He's a really creepy guy in person. He's arrogant, and a terrible interview. And now, he has the reputation of being desperate to get out of Starkville.

The problem is that he is topped out at State. No better program will have him. And no one who will have him will match what State is paying him. He's in a death loop.

For Freeze to work his way up from a girls high school basketball coach to an SEC football coach, I would say he is a very competitive and driven person. Therefore, I see him as they type of person that might want to accomplish another feat one day, whether it be the NFL or rebuilding another program.

But I don't see him leaving Oxford until his girls are out of high school. They love it and he moved them around quite a bit the few years prior to Ole Miss.

Haha. Hoping that ole miss gets put on probation? You know that's your only shot. freeze will stay for 30 years and make you life miserable.

We loved him until the pine box comments although we understood that not only is auburn a better job but our AD at the time was a huge cocksucker who offered zero support

Good answer. I was expecting at least one crazy answer, but I'll take realistic and rational on the rare chance it comes.

Do you believe both Muffin and Freeze will be one of those long time coaches for your respective school?

I guess it depends on your definition of long-time. Mine is 20+ years. I don't see anyone lasting that long in the SEC any more, whether it be something else more interesting or profitable coming along, lack of success, or just plain burn out.

Yeah MSU is known for hiring Douchebag, poor interviewing individuals as head coach.

Take the red glasses off. Freeze graduated from USM, and lived in Tennessee for several years. I'm certain he loves Ole Miss, but this whole he's one of us because he was born in Oxford is absurd. As I mentioned in the post, I don't believe he would leave unless the right situation presented itself, but the this is his dream job crap is funny.

He is already making $4.3 million, and the stadium is being expanded....

His wife and girls love it in Oxford, and he won't leave unless he suddenly loses it or gets sick or something.

Holy shite that sounds just like what some state fans have been saying about Mullen.

I don't know what world you live in but if a program like Texas offered him let's say 6 million a year, I bet he does take it because that's a difference of almost 2 million a year. That goes a long ways when you're from that patch of ground outside of oxford.

Freeze is about to get another raise though that moves him into the $5.3 range. If what I read last week (not on a message board either) is accurate. Maybe that was including some sort of bonuses, but nonetheless.

At which of his interviews were you present?

You mean that $4.3MM a year death loop? You should be so lucky.

Whether he goes or whether he stays, our program is in much better shape than when he got here. Facilities are better, expectations are higher so the salary we are willing to pay is commensurate with those expectations. Coaching hires are a crap shoot at best. Our next coach when that does occur could be good or could be a flop. Either way, we can be competitive in getting a good coach (might have to be an up and coming mid-major guy or a "good" coordinator). But, I don't really worry about it. We should be OK.

I was responding more to the type of comment of

quote:

How much better can you live on 7 million than you can on 4? Especially with the cost of living in Mississippi.

This jackhole probably doesnt' realize the cost of living in Austin or Texas is actually cheaper than in MS when you consider many things.

If Freeze can get to the 5.3 million dollar range, good for him but to act like 2-3 million dollars is nothing is absolutely absurd.

Freeze did not 'almost' leave for Florida. They were interested in an interview, but he was not and said so to Ross Bjork. He got a raise, but that was coming anyway. Freeze does not play those sort of games. And, no, he would not leave for Texas or any other program. He is indeed a Rebel and always has been. The only way he leaves is if he gets fired. There are fans of other programs that wish he would leave, but you're the ones that are dreaming. He has all the money he will ever need and a program that right now was one play away from playing for the SEC title. Some of you need to get over yourselves and realize that Freeze is here to stay. Right now, Saban and 'Bama are the gold standard. What other program has beaten them two years in a row? I'm looking forward to the years ahead. It'll be fun. Freeze is not motivated by more money. Period.

I agree. He is a pretty good coach and will be at OM for a while unless your cigars pull a Cutfliffe on him. However, he was not a fit for UF, but of course they had to put some names on "the list".

I have always heard that Mullen is waiting for UCLA or USC to offer him. With his close ties to Tom Cruise and John Travolta, he is positioned to recruit the LA area very well and generate a lot of buzz.
