(yet, supposedly he doesn't win enough...LOL)

This guy needs to come to Mizzou:

10+ win seasons - Vince Dooley 6 in 24 years
Mark Richt 9 in 15 years
Everyone else 5

Top 10 finishes - Vince Dooley - 7
Mark Richt - 6
Everyone else - 5

SEC Championships - Vince Dooley - 6
Mark Richt - 2
Everyone else - 4

National Championships - Vince Dooley - 1
Mark Richt - 0
Everyone else - 1 (1942)

Winning Percentage - Vince Dooley .715
Mark Richt .740
No one else above .679
Overall history .649

Plus, I love Richt. He's like a better version of Pinkel...definitely "Mizzou Made"

The expectations in this league have got out of hand. There's not 10 Nick Sabans.. You're not going to win a championship every year..

His championship per season is lower than UGA's historical average at a time when the state has grown into a football talent producing powerhouse.

I think Richt is a good coach but I totally understand why UGA made the move.

I agree...and Missouri fans understand this which is why I would venture to say that most Mizzou fans would be ecstatic if we hired Richt.

This is true, but one in a decade for a program like that is more than reasonable. I mean the guy has been there 15 years, it's not like he wasn't given ample time.

They gave him 15 years. I would not have fired him yet, but I get why they did. The program is stagnant. Sometimes, a change is good for both. I could see Richt getting a new gig and becoming a legend there.

The correct comparison would be seasons with less than 2 losses. Give Richt 4. Give Dooley 8.

If you're not lifting crystal then the shelf life of any coach is about 10years. Coaches have to generate excitement and drive revenue. I would imagine a dog with a note can recruit to UGA and win 10 games a year. Can you stay in limelight, drive T-shirt sales and win the big games? If not, hit the bricks.

Dooley also somehow only played Alabama 6 times in 25 years as head coach. How is this even possible, back then when there were only 10 teams in the SEC? He went 2-4 vs. Alabama.

in cfb you also must look at the w/l vs rivals...you can have a good total winning % but you can get forced out for not regularly beating your rivals

richt was 5-10 vs fla...

Not really a fair comparison. When did the NCAA go to 11 games a season - early 1990s? Didn't go to 12 until say 2005 or so. It is a lot easier to pad wins with games against North Texas, Southern, Little Sisters of the poor, when you can fill in your expanded schedule with fluff games.

Also, as someone else said, Georgia has become a hotbed for football talent in the last 10-15 years. There was always one or two players that showed up from Georgia (Herschel, Jamal Lewis, William Andrews) but now you are seeing guys from Georgia taking up a large number of the top 100/top 150 recruits in the country. Give Dooley half the in state talent UGA has been able to get in the last 15 years, he would have won several more SEC titles and probably another Natty or two.

Honestly, there is truth to this. Saban has changed the landscape of college football.

The guy got 15 years and millions of dollars. He doesn't ever have to work again. If he handles his money, his kids won't have to work. What is so wrong with trying another coach?

Richt didn't get fired because he didn't win a NC, he got fired because he couldn't win a very weak SEC East.
