My boy Cam Newton is enjoying a well deserved and earned bye week.

Maybe he will have the luxury of playing a shitty defense.

This stood out to me also. Payton loves Robinson and he's much more explosive than Ingram. Ingram will be gone after his contract is up unless he's willing to take much less money.

Both RBs looked really good last night. I think Robinson may have even edged Ingram on the average ypc, but I'm not sure. Ingram has been running tougher and faster for the last few games now. He played a big part in the win and Payton called a good game that worked in their favor. Keep feeding him/Robinson if they look like that. It makes play action much more effective.

I don't know about all of this "he's finally healthy" talk. If that's the case, you have to wonder how durable he'd be if you tried to use him significantly for a period of time if he was hurt for almost three years without any major injuries. He has been banged up at times, but I think he's just hitting the hole faster now and playing more physical. Plus, when a contract is almost up, that can get your attention as a player.

He is finally actually attempting to establish a running game. Not sure why it took him so long to realize that it is okay to run the ball twice in a row.

I enjoyed his performance and if he keeps it up I would love if my Saints would sign him to an extension after his rookie contract is over.
I agree.

Ingram has had a run of the injury bug since being in the NFL and now he is healthy.

He looked like the old #22 last night.

However I didn't like some of the coaching decisions like why couldn't one of the safeties help out sweeting when he was getting it handed to him.

Saints won and that's all that matters though.

It won't last. The Saints don't know how to call run plays.

He sits on his hands for years and now that his contract is ending he has a good game. Use him and then lose him. He was over paid for what we got out of him. The Saints wasted 2 draft picks to get a bench warmer that they couldn't give away. Now he knows his lively hood is on the ropes. Good riddance.

yeah, that, or he is finally being given the ball more than twice a game.

Yeah. There are times when the passing game is just killing teams and there isn't a need to really run. And I have no issue with that. But Payton tends to get stuck in that mentality and forces the pass sometimes.

It was in the 20s, Drew's passing was a little off to start and his throws didn't have as much zip on them. We ran the ball and were moving it 3-5 yards consistently. So it was smart to keep trying it. Philly runs a fast-paced and effective offense and it helped to give our D a rest against them (and kept their offense off the field obviously). The plan really worked perfect when looking at how the Saints won with no time left on the clock. With our regular offense, Philly would have gotten it back with time to score.

And Payton finaly decided to commit to the run game. Hopefully they have success against the other birds of prey next week.
