I was assured that Middle TN football had drastically improved by a couple of my Vol friends.

I watched Clay-Chalkville vs Blackmon and Hoover vs Oakland in the inaugural Middle TN kickoff Classic at MTSU today. Neither game was competitive. The talent disparity was alarming. Clay-Chalkville was definitely the best team in attendance. Bama committ TJ Simmons is legit 2 Tds with 150 yds. Clay-Chalkville won 38-7, but the game was more lopsided than the score.

Hoover seems to have taken a step back and I doubt they win 7A this year. They would've been housed by Clay-Chalkville as well. They won 24-6 against Oakland, but the game was more lopsided than the score. Oakland scored a cheap Td in the 4th against some back ups to avoid the embarrassment of a shutout.

Could this be why Tennessee doesn't have a nationally competitor football team?

I just wasted a minute of my life reading this garbage.

Guess it's better than you wasting fifteen minutes of yours to type that shite out.

Clay Chalkville and Hoover were both nationally ranked. Oakland and Blackman lost a ton from the previous season. SEC Players and their two head coaches.

You totes watched the best teams in the state. I'm sure where you've seen that both teams have been on championship streaks, right?

Tn HS football has always been marginal at best. The best players coming from West TN, but Nashville area football is supposed to be improving. 2 of the best teams in Middle TN looked like they didn't belong today. Usually suburban teams like Blackmon and Oakland have money for great coaching staffs. They might run sophisticated schemes for the high school level or might have better facilities for strength and conditioning, but there were no positives for either school. They kids from AL were bigger, faster, and better coached. TN high schools need to get serious about their football. Butch needs to have some coaching clinics like Saban.

Side note: I personally scored the first points in history against Clay-Chalkville when they were a new school in 1996.

Carry on.

I've been in Nashville for 8 yrs now. I've seen 30+ high school games and have been underwhelmed. I didn't catch any games last year and have heard how HS football in middle TN had gotten much better. I thought I would share that it's still awful. Deep South > Mid South.

Those motherfrickers pulled an Alabama and claimed the state title in 2012....2013? Somewhere around there because they were playing an ineligible player the entire season

Clay is what happens when you separate the ghetto from Trussville city.

Lol who gives a shite about the results of HS games. Tennessee has produced Vonn Bell, Jalen Ramsey and Derek Barnett since 2013. Probably 3 of the top 30 players in America. Who is the best player in college football from Alabama right now? Reggie Ragland is damn good. Who else?

TN has produced a ton of individual talent recently. HS Teams may not be as good but who gives a shite about that. The players from the past few classes have had no trouble producing at the FBS level.

The 2014 class in particular is looking very, very good and deep.

Tennessee is not a hotbed for football talent, but they still produce very good players here and there. Just gotta know where to find them. Dont'a Hightower and Barret Jones are both Tennessee natives. Back in 2005 Pete Carrol got got Patrick Turner out of Goodpasture to go to USC.
