Although it remains unclear which rivals schools said exactly what, and to which of Alabama’s recruits, Saban had his fill this winter of ideas being placed in the heads of his recruiting targets. With more than a little sarcasm, the UA coach made that clear Wednesday on the subject of negative recruiting.
“I’m amazed at what other schools know about our team, because I know nothing about their team. And they know more about our team than I know about our team,” Saban said. “They get the depth chart out and they know how good a player they are -- guys who haven’t even played before. Haven’t been on the field, haven’t lettered, haven’t done anything.
“It’s amazing to me, and I’m talking about convincing -- an expert. We don’t do that, we do not negative recruit in what we do. We have a product to sell, we try to sell it in a positive way.”
So... saban calls showing kids other team's depth charts and selling against that team by doing so "negative recruiting". Then he claims his coaches do not do it.

I agree there. He should probably just talk less because the more he talks, the more BS he says. Especially when it comes to recruiting.

I agree with this. I can see Auburn signing one good RB this class, but I don't understand signing two (Robinson and Yeldon).

Would it be ok to point out to recruits parents which coaches are bad role models for their sons because they cheat on their wives? Hey, as long as it is the truth right?

This is not happening. I can promise you that. Saban does not use a depth chart pitch and in recruitinng meetings for the entire staff when he asks for player updates and how recruiting specific players is going no staff member points out that they are using a depth chart pitch. Just not happening.

I'm just trying to create some debate here. Just because you always bring up something true, doesn't make it right. I would hope that most programs try to recruit these kids positively. Memphis, it wouldn't always be creepy to know these things. A quick google search will give you lots of public articles about people like Rick Pitino or Mike Price.
