After that Sugar Bowl, I'm not sure AU fans want any part of football till August. Tammy may dial in and yell at Paul, but that's about all I expect.

If he was still alive, Leonard's Loser for this game would be, Clemson.
The Crimson pachyderms will be heading to the sunshine state to take on the Dabo Fighting kittens. In an epic battle the quarterback of the orange and purple will find a big wall of crimson to overcome, and meanwhile the big elephants will force their way through Tiger town and head off to the championship. Leonard's loser: Clemson.

Clemson and Dabo already have this game so deep in their heads ("more juice"??) that it's hard for me to see them not choking it away somehow.
Hard to believe, too, that Saban won't have the red team finely tuned and ready to go.
Only real wild card (besides injuries and funny stuff -bouncing balls, flying flags) to me might be if someone is distracted eating really crunchy boogers and makes some errors in game planning before or play calling during the game...

QB - Advantage Clemson on raw talent but it's a push in terms of the game.
this is as far as I made it. The rest of the post is MOOT with this bullshite to start.
Deshaun is the best quarterback in college football, and Jalen is literally not REMOTELY close.

DEFENSE wins championships.
Watson is great but the Bama defense this year is better equipped to handle him.
If Clemson wins it will be because their front 7 slows down Alabama's running game.

I think what he was saying, dumb arse, is that even though Watson is a much better and more talented qb that due to Bama's defense having more success limiting what he does than vice versa that their impact on the game will be about the same.

Well you're both wrong. Congrats

Or because Deshaun is better than Jalen and lights it up

How many Qbs had great seasons just to get beat by a overwhelming defense in the National Championship?
Marcus Mariota 2014
Colt McCoy 2009 got hurt
Sam Bradford 2008
Troy Smith 2006
Jason White 03 & 04
Chris Weinke 00
Gino Torretta 92
I know Cam had great season but Au beat Oregon with their redzone defense in the NC game.

Valid point, but not sure how much bearing this has in this game. Bama had a great defense last year, didn't slow down Deshaun. Sure, they're better this year, but so is Clemson's offense. I don't think Clemson is going to have as much trouble as people are thinking.

I see it 12-10 Bama at the half. It's 20-18 Clemson at end of 3rd quarter as Dabo challenges a no catch for interception as Bama is moving the ball. Clemson gets the ball, momentum, scores. Bama fans will be pissed about 6 FGs and cuss Kiffin and Sark. But Bama's control of the LOS comes through in the 4th as Clemson wears down a bit, and Saban makes a gutsy decision to go for it on 4th down at the beginning of the 4th quarter, converts, Bama plows in for a TD and Bama goes up 25-20 at the 14 minute mark. Bama fans start to relax. Clemson stalls, plays field position, pins Bama inside its own 10 but Bama steadily goes down field (like shite through a tin horn), scores again to go up 32-20 at the 8 minute mark. Bama fans declare game over, construction begins on new Saban statue, shirts printed proclaiming him best ever. Bama puts 8 guys into coverage, forces Clemson to dink and dunk down field taking time, but they score easily, and it's 32-27 with 4 minutes left. Dabo has smartly saved his time outs. Bama fans contemplate disaster of an onside recovery or 3 & out and handing the ball to Watson at midfield with 3 minutes left in the game. Construction on statue is halted, shirt orders cancelled. Clemson kicks it deep and hopes its defense can come up with a stop, but Bama converts a couple 1st downs and Clemson never sees the ball again. Bama fans say they had it in the bag all along. Immediately after the game, Vol fans declare the Bama dynasty is over and project their margin of victory in next year's game. LSU fans hold hands with Vol fans and join in. Bama fans laugh at them both. We all laugh at Big10 and Ohio St. Harmony.

I realize all that has zero to do with this game but it does show a trend that typically a great defense overcomes a great quarterback.
I'm not saying Alabama will win necessarily, I'm just saying that if Clemson wins it will be because their defensive front 7.
I know that's not the general consensus on how games are won but this game like every other game will be won or lost in the trenches.

I can't disagree with this. But I also think Clemson's offense is going to move the ball reasonably well against Bama's defense, which will shock pretty much everyone I've heard from. IMO Jalen is going to have to make some plays at some point, and he could feel some pressure of trying to match what he will be watching Deshaun do.
Regardless of what happens, here's to one for the ages

Alot of ppl don't realize how well Clemson held up on the LOS last year, they just think it was all DeShawn Watson. I know Watson had great game but his Oline played very well.

did they return most of the OL? do you think any of the specialty edge rushers, i.e. Tim Williams, Rashan Evans, could see an expanded role to try and get after DW?

One glaring advantage Bama has this year is that Dominick "revolving door" Jackson isn't at RT anymore. That was frustrating as shite watching him try to block anything witha pulse.
Posted on 1/4/17 at 9:56 am to AU_251
I believe they have 3 guys back on the OLine, I think the biggest difference will be Jeremy Pruitt aggressive defense, that will keep Clemson from putting up alot of points. That being said I don't think Bama will light up the scoreboard either I think this game goes under the 54 1/2.
But I have been wrong a few times before so you never know.

you realize Bama was ahead 45-33 with 1:07 left in the game?
