Tim Williams is the most exciting defensive player at UA since....

Who ya got Bama fans?
I was trying to think of the last UA player who could take over a whole game the way he can and completely disrupt an offense by himself.
The Bama defense is typically a team effort, and it is this season, but TW stands out more than anyone else, as an individual, in awhile.
I can literally watch him from snap to whistle every play that he's in the game.
Yeah, yeah, I now there's a Bama board, but I didn't want to post it there.

Jon Allen, Ryan Anderson, and Tim Williams is a hell of a trio.

No one. Most exciting defensive player I've ever seen at Alabama. And I'm no spring chicken.

He's an animal. Can't believe it took LSU so long to offer that SOB.
Could you imagine Williams on one side and Arden Key on the other? Jeez..

He is an exciting player but can he anchor down the end spot against the run?
My answer would be Cornelius Bennett. And no I'm not comparing or saying he is that good but he was exciting to watch.

I was thinking back to the days of D Thomas and Biscuit, but that's gotta be crazy talk. There's got to be some more recent than those that I'm forgetting about.
Copeland, Curry, McCants, Langham?

Don't recall a pass rusher as dominant as Tim. He's either held (never called) or he pressures the quarterback. Tackles just can't handle him. Elite first step, violent hands, knows how to bend. I'm not old enough to have seen Derrick Thomas at bama and can't remember Curry and Copeland. Demeco was fun to watch but that was just more because he did his job on every snap and was a tackling machine. Tim is just flat unblockable and a huge reason we've created so many turnovers the last two years. Saban calls it "affecting the quarterback." Often times a pressure is better than a sack because it results in interceptions. It gets in a lot of quarterbacks heads that he's breathing down their neck shortly after the snap

Happens way too much to elite pass rushers.

Yes they are.
When the announcers last night were talking about how sore the Ark QB was following the aTm game I couldn't help but feel sorry for him while watching us beat the hell out of him. On that pick 6 when he got blocked he tapped out. Need a gif of that.
He has to feel like he was hit by a Mack truck today.
Tough little SOB. Bert had no business leaving him in the game at the end.

That's who I kept going back to also. I'm 41 so I can barely remember him, but have watched some old games of him after I got older.
Williams requires that the OC specifically game plan for him like no one individual at UA in a long time.

Agree with all of this. A lot of times Saban's defense would rather let the QB make a mistake rather than sack him in previous years. But we have such a strong pass rush this season that they get both the sacks and mistakes.

Probably Copeland and Curry
Those guys were both monsters.

Yeah they were a terror. Which the '92 D is pretty much the defensive standard by which all others at UA are measured.
I think TW is every bit as good as Clowney in regards to how he can completely take over and disrupt a game and if Williams maintains his current level of play could be a very high pick as well.
But I'm biased.
And of course when everyone on the defense is a 4-5* it makes it easier for players like TW because if they key on him someone else will pick up the slack.

Eric Curry.
Thomas was the great one, unequalled. The way Williams changes a game plan at the DE position reminds me of Eric Curry on the great 92 defense.

Most exciting defensive player ever at Bama was Antonio langham followed by derrick thomas.
Williams is a badass though. Quarterbacks are running for their life. He's a better run stopper than DT Was.
Minkah is our best db since langham. Thank u New Jersey for that one. We need Ronnie Harrison to get his head out of his arse sometimes.
