It was a rivalry that pitted tu & aTm. But it is now deader than a door nail.

South Carolina/Georgia isn't a rivalry. It's on it's way, but they've dominated us historically and our fans hate them more than they hate us.

And I hate it.

Can't believe people forget UF vs. Auburn.

UF and Auburn have played 83 times, including 45 straight at one point.

They've played more than Alabama vs. Auburn.

Before Texas A&M joined the SEC LSU played Texas A&M one time in the last 20 years.

Seems silly to currently call this a rivalry. It might develop into one in the next 20 years. Begging just makes yall look desperate.

That is a texbook invented rivalry. Before last year, each school was a non-entity to the other.

Horrible thread. The Egg Bowl is just as irrelevant as the TSIO and DSOR nationally. Tennessee/UK on the same level as the TSIO?

I doubt people in Ohio or Oklahoma think about any differently than they do the TSIO or the DSOR.

God help us all the day that people in Ohio are the benchmark for ANYTHING....other than oddities and crimes that make you wanna cringe and/or puke.

I would drop the Cocktail Party & Border War down to the level with TSIO & DSOR

You think the Egg Bowl has more national appeal than the Cocktail Party?

And the Florida-UT game is not an invented rivalry. While there wasn't a ton of history pre-1990, it turned into a legitimate rivalry with tons of national appeal.

I wish we could get Florida back as a permanent game.

Me too. I don't want to lose the LSU game though.

I think that when most people hear of a game between two state schools that are in the same conference, they automatically consider it a rivalry. Whether or not they want to watch it is a different matter.

Yes it is. Not only is it an ivented rivalry that started being associated as one in the mid to late 90s, it has been a pretty lopsided one during that time frame.

I don't think that makes it a nationally known rivalry though, just because someone can make that assumption. I mean would you consider Arizona-Arizona State a national rivalry? I think the importance of the game has to come into play to earn that distinction, many in state games probably wouldn't make a fan's top 30 or 40 rivalry games.

National appeal and watchability has little to do with being a real rivalry.
