I wonder why he picked the 2010 Ok St defense as his benchmark. They did not play for the title in 2011.

Its an interesting list but UCLA, AU, UGA, USC, and Ore are not in his top 15 for "Mold" but i bet all 5 will be in the Top 15 come October when the committee puts out thier rankings.

Phil hates Auburn
I used to think this hatred of AU by sports journalists/analysts/media members was just a bunch of BS.... But when Phil Steele of all people put Baylor/Clemson/Iowa/KSU on this list and intentionally omits a team that has played in the national championship twice in the last 3 yrs it's proof that there is indeed hatred and bias against AU. I don't understand why?

They would have beat y'all in the Outback Bowl without Jeremy Hill

Take away our best player and we might have lost, great analysis How many games does Auburn win in 2010 without Cam?

and I know all of you still remember the name Drew Tate

Saban loves to choke away games at the end, Auburn fans know this better than most.

I noticed in the article that Vandyke made the final 17 list. Vand in the top 17 and not Auburn says it all.

It is a great analysis. LSU might have lost a bowl game that they didn't have their starting QB or RB. He went on a limb, give him credit.

He used a formula, basically taking the "worst" team from the past 20 or so odd years who played for the national title or was a contender (hence why OSU from 2011 was used as well for a baromoter), and said "ok every team who was better than the worst contender last year will make the cut on this specific stat" and he kept whittling away until he got 15 left. Like he used total yards per game allowed, while if he had used passing yards allowed per game I think OSU would be eliminated immediately (we gave up like 300 a game).

Auburn failed in some key stat he measured. OSU fails in a key stat he didn't measure for whatever reason

Did y'all even watch that game? Jeremy Hill was the only player that did shite for LSU. He had 216 of LSU's 302 total. The rest of your team played like garbage and couldn't do a damn thing against Iowa. Without Hill then LSU might have had another bowl game where they didn't cross the 50

He's got one odd shaped "mold" he's trying to fit these teams into then.
