A win on the road for an opener is fine.
With that said, I was mildly underwhelmed of TCU. And they really don't play any body for a while.

I'm not sure about Oklahoma yet, but Baylor may be the only team that can beat them. That schedule is terrible.

This. I don't think that they lose to Baylol though. TCU is the only team in that entire conference that has a legitimate defense. They have a really good secondary. They will probably win out. If they do, they will get destroyed in the playoffs.

Thoughts? TCU sucks, they would finish last in the SEC West and 6th in the SEC East, every SEC team except Vanderbilt would have gone into Minnesota last night and won by 21+

Now that that is out of the way, TCU played only had 2 players on defense last night that started last year. Giving up only 17 should be a positive considering all the new comers and two freshman linebackers. Two all-Big 12 defensive lineman were out with injury as well as a junior linebacker so when they get back the defense should be better. Tough to win with 2 freshman linebackers though.

Offensively they will be fine. Lots of rust last night. If Boykin connects on those overthrown wide open receivers in the end zone things turn out differently

Most likely undefeated throughout the regular season. Baylor may be the only team that beats them.

Not national title level though. They don't have the quality of run defense to do it.

I am not saying Arkansas is a playoff worthy team this year... but with that schedule we probably go 11-1 if not undefeated. TCU should be undefeated going into their last two games.

It's really too early to have this discussion. Minnesota could very well turn out to be a 10-win team, given their trajectory. In which case this narrow victory just turned into a schedule-defining win on a tough road game.

We also don't know what Kansas State, Oklahoma State, and Oklahoma have yet. Everyone is saying @OU is their first tough game, but KSU is generally an OK team at worst, and often-times downright good under Bill Snyder. @Kansas State could prove to be a challenge. OSU is up and down, but @OSU could also turn out to be difficult.

I wouldn't judge their run defense off of last night. TCU had 2 all Big 12 defensive lineman out. They will return and things should be better. They held a run first team to 144 yards on the ground which is nothing to be ashamed of

Out of the teams that played last night that caught my attention it was Georgia Tech by a mile. I know it was against Alcorn State, but it looked like they were already getting the timing down and making the proper reads on the pitches, dives, and all of the stuff they do with that offense.

Tcu was rather unimpressive. They are going to have to come up with more running yards from people not named Boykin. He took too many shots last night and I'm not sold on their overall defense. They have a weak schedule probably second only to Baylor among playoff contenders. I thought maybe Oklahoma state could give them a game but after their cat fight last night I'm now thinking it's up to Baylor and Oklahoma to beat tcu.

FBS Triple Option teams always beat the crap out of FCS teams, especially low tier ones like Alcorn

Air Force usually routs its annual FCS opponent as well.

I wouldn't look into this game as meaningful in any way.

Who doesn't look like world-beaters against FCS squads? Unless it's the Bisons, those games are generally foregone conclusions. It's only telling if the game DOESN'T end in gang rape.

Last year, our 7-6 Hogs beat Nicholls State 73-7. 8-5 Texas A&M beat Lamar 73-3.

TCU's running back was a 5-star out of high school if I remember right.

What about them? Are you talking about the Georgia Southern game?

You may want to ease up on the SOS humor. Aggies schedules are still available on the web. Just an FYI. Just because you finally schedule ASU (a power 5 school) doesn't erase the consecutive years of Rice, Lamar, SMU, SHSU, and La Tech.

You do realize that A&M had to grapple with playing anyone they could schedule, after moving conferences, right? A yearly OOC game vs Arkansas suddenly became a conference game, for starters.

You can accuse Texas A&M University of whatever burr is habitually under your saddle; but we're not historicall known for scheduling weaklings.
