I'm not making it up. That's what he said. He said the coaching search "could be completed in two to two and a half weeks" He said "contract buyouts would not be a problem" and "every coach was an option"
No, you said $3.1 million buyout would not be a problem.
When and where was this said so I can read it.

[quote]Meyer will have some pull in who gets this job. It will not be Petrino. I highly doubt Petrino is ever contacted by Florida. That is just my opinion. I feel like Florida will go after 1 bigger name(Mullen). If that does not work out, then they go for a high profile coordinator(Malzahn).

Mullen is not a bigger name than Petrino.

What part of "Meyer will have some pull" did you not quite comprehend from my previous post?

BS, Auburn contacted Russ Campbell as will Florida. I just do not think he will take the Florida job. Too many big fish in Arkansas that he is recruiting and he has become buddy buddy with a lot of high school coaches.

He said contact buyouts would be "no problem" He didn't say Petrinos' specifically. A separate sentence in the article said Petrino was believed to have a 3.1 million dollar buyout, and that there was a clause built into his contract barring him from going to a Western Division school but not the Eastern Division.

Hogville = mostly lunatic fringe.
There are some knowledgeable posters on there, but mostly it's a vocal minority of people who have nothing better to do than obsess over every rumor and "what if."
Personally, I'd have no problem with Bobby P taking the Florida job. Hell, if I didn't have a personal connection to Arkansas, and I was in his position, I'd probably take it. Top 3 job = more money, bigger recruiting base, etc.
I guess the cons are that a big hire for Miami hurts that recruiting base, and that overall, expectations are much higher. If he makes a BCS bowl every 4-5 years, while averaging Cotton Bowl appearances at Arkansas, he'll be loved. Not to mention, dude's still making bank, and having lived in both Gainesville and Fayetteville, I feel comfortable in saying that it's nearly just an objective truth that Fayetteville's a more enjoyable place to live (especially for a Montana native).

Big difference in contacting someones lawyer/agent than talking coach to athletic director.
High school coaches and "big fish" are not going to be the main reason on why Petrino stays.
Lets not kid ourselves here. The first thought through BP's mind is not going to be about relationships with high school coaches.

Exactly. That's just plain silly.

see and that is where you messed up. Petrino likes Fayetteville because he is not a city boy. He likes being able to drive 30 minutes and Fish, Ski and be in natural fresh water areas. While Florida can offer that it is very different. The natural settings in Arkansas are very different from Florida. He said he wants to end his career here and I believe him.

How old are you? You need to stop believing everything these coaches say. You're in for a lifetime of disappointment if you do.

Tommy Tubberville at Ole Miss: "They'll have to carry me out of here in a pine box"
Nick Saban at Miami Dolphins: "I will not be the head coach at Alabama"
Just saying it happens.

Here you go. I told you I don't make shite up.
quote:
Foley told Sporting News that Florida, “won’t be scared off by contract buyouts.” That means every coach is an option.
At the top of the list: Arkansas coach Bobby Petrino, who according to a source was Foley’s No.2 option when he hired Meyer from Utah after the 2004 season – and the No.1 choice when Meyer resigned last season before returning a day later. Petrino’s contract with Arkansas has a non-compete clause for teams in the SEC West Division – but not the East Division.
If he were to leave the Hogs, his buyout is estimated to be $3.1 million. Other possibilities for the job include former Florida assistant Dan Mullen, Utah coach (and Meyer friend) Kyle Whittingham and Houston coach Kevin Sumlin.

Urban's choice to be his successor last year was Steve Addazio.
No, he has absolutely no pull.

So Matt Hayes of the Sporting News thinks Bobby P's at the top of the list without claiming any inside info. I appreciate that national journalists respect our head coach and have noted his opinion.

where there is smoke there is fire. I think he stays though he is building our program to something Florida has and he will be able to leave his own mark on it and a statue of himself out side of RRS.

It stands to reason. He was #2 choice when Meyer was hired.

He has turned down Auburn and USC since he has been at Arkansas. Will he add to that list?
I wanna make it clear that IF he does decide to move on then i can't fault him for leaving for Florida.
