You're trying too hard.

Huh? He's right, most would agree those are likely losses for Ole Miss.

To say OM only lost Moncreif is retarded. Not to mention the issue there isn't that OM has declined. It's just that State has likely improved more, seeing as we literally only lost like 3 starters. At least one of which we upgrade from. Not to mention finishing the season on a much higher note and, frankly, dominating you with no QB or effective offensive play for all but half a quarter. Unfortunately, we both have to deal with being at best on par with Bama/LSU/AU, even though it could be a down year for all 3.

As good as I feel about this season for State, I still have to consider AU, Bama, and LSU toss ups at best. However, likely losses is probably the safer bet until we see what cards everyone has.

Even MSU fans will disagree with making them a likely win against OM, but whatever.

Wait. How can you say that and then that? Please name a true starter Ole Miss lost on offense or defense. Pierce Burton? Thank goodness.

You're out of your mind if you think MSU is a likely loss for Ole Miss. Y'all are setting yourselves up for major disappointment. Y'all were one OM injury from missing postseason last year. How does that add up to you guys being better than us?

Because I think we probably lose to AU, LSU, and Bama?

Maybe so, and I know it's a rivalry, MSU just seems like the easy pick.

LSU will never be underrated in my lifetime. It's a game that everyone in the west, and UF, and whoever the rotator is, circles on the schedule.

I think Arky is underrated this year though, and aTm is overrated. I only say that because I've seen polls with aTm in the top 20, and I just don't see it in 2014.

I agree.
Been saying it for months.
Auburn and Ole Miss are off-the-scale overrated.

Haha neither have any hype, and one came within a couple minutes of winning the BCSCG

If you mean likely as in >50%, I think there's a lot, maybe even a majority, of people that would make that assertion. I think State will likely win. They won last year and I see them improving much more this year than Ole Miss. I think the Dak Knight has considerable potential as well. It's way to early to have a very good idea at all for that game, but that's where I stand at the moment.

If last year's performance is the metric, it makes zero sense that Mizzou isn't ranked.

Auburn certainly deserves some spotlight; I just think they've been given far too much.
I'm not going to attribute last year's entire season to luck--that would be silly; but Auburn was just seconds away from having a very different 2014.
We'll see. I have nothing against em. Hope they do well.
Just one person's opinion.

But Ole Miss?
I just don't get that one at all.

Also, to clarify, I didn't say Ole Miss would be overrated this season. I linked a preseason thread from last year with many predictions of y'all finishing 2nd and 3rd and stated that the majority of posters overshot y'alls finish in the West. The basis of this thread is general perception now vs prediction of how things will shake out at the end of the year. I put y'all at neutral for this year.

I'm not disputing that Auburn may stumble, although I don't think we'll fall off much, I'm disputing that we're being touted that much.

I don't care that you think we're not that good, I just don't know how anyone could think we've gotten too much spotlight--I haven't seen us given much attention at all.

Yeah, a team that has the only returning First Team All-American in the SEC, 4 First Team Freshman All-Americans, 4 First Team Freshman All-SEC, 5 All-SEC members(to MSU's zero), the most experienced returning QB, and getting our best defender back is DEFINITELY not going to improve.

ETA: Saw second post, I wasn't responding to you initially. I was responding to the state fan

I was referring to preseason rankings and projections.
For the record, my opinion is as meaningful as a rock's.
Auburn is going to do its thing, regardless of my jaw-flappin'.

I didn't say y'all weren't going to improve. I said I see MSU improving more. Listen, this is the last chance I'm giving MSU so I'm going all in. I think this is make it or break in time for Merlins and this is by far the best shot they've had in a while. If they fail to finish top 4 in the West this year, I will permanently give up on State until proven otherwise.

You were a healthy Dak Prescott away from being dominated, so we are even.

Well, we are stronger and deeper than you at LB, DL is very comparable, better at RB, IMO QB, corner, WR... I'll let you keep bringing the hype though. You are certainly more experienced at safety and place kicker.

I see Bama, LSU, Arkansas and Miss. St. being better than last year. TAMU, AU, and OM being about the same. So, Underrated: Arkansas. Overrated: Auburn.
