I'm assuming the Bama fans defending this are either not Birmingham residents, trolls, or BOT water boys.

Please. I've been to more UAB games than most UAB students and residents have. Tax payers should be glad it's being shut down.

Damn it must suck to be an Aub. Put up all the yards you want, you're still a perennial 7-8 win team. Look it up, the numbers don't lie.

This would be a compelling argument if the money wasn't going to be used to gold plate the statute of Saban.

But they're not. That's the point.

Well then it's time to flex those civil liberties and get something done. Force the BOT to listen to the voice of the UAB fanbase, and every tax payer of Birmingham.

Has UAB offended you in some way? Has UAB football threatened to steal a recruit from your favorite team or beat your favorite team on the field or steal your favorite team's spot in the College Football Playoff?

No? Then if you are smiling, joking or gloating today, if you have danced on UAB football's grave in any way, you should be ashamed of yourself. Assuming you have the capacity for shame.

He still mad Pat Dye killed his dad?

It's been 30 plus years what is taking him so long to go after his revenge?

I believe this will be rectified quickly. Honestly, I'd like to see UAB become autonomous and become the University of Birmingham. That would be in the best interests of Birmingham.

I don't disagree at all, I guess it's a little surprising that all of these conspiracy theories are being hatched, but then this is the SEC so nothing really surprises any more.

Well next door in Georgia, programs are still popping up. Ga St has been under way for a couple of years now and Kennesaw St, 3rd largest school in the state, just launched football.

Here's what you morons should be concerned about, now that the SEC Network is going to be pulling down Billions for the SEC, the last thing any of you SHOULD WANT is a bunch of school admins, bureaucrats and politicians, upsetting a reasonably smooth riding apple cart. For the few of you who are actually smart enough to understand what I'm talking about, you know I'm right.

The general attitude I get from most folks here in Birmingham is indifference. There are definitely some that are pissed and upset, but that's not the prevailing attitude.

The media seems most upset, not counting the players, coaches and students.

Reveling in the lack of accountability doesn't thereby prove that the decision made is a good or logical one. The threshold for a decision made by a BOT about a public university should not be "Is this so bad that they will [literally] pass a bill through the Alabama legislature about it?"

These conspiracy theories aren't just being hatched here on the SECrant.
They have been going on since 2006 when they wouldn't let UAB hire Jimbo.

I didn't even know about the conspiracies until reddit started linking numerous new articles on the subject.
