The aura of Saban is gone. He seems beatable now.

What coach isn't beatable? Bear Bryant lost 46 games at Alabama. Steve Spurrier lost his fair share when he was coaching Florida in the 1990s.

I was too young to follow but I think Bryant had his fair share of detractors in Tuscaloosa in the late 60's/early 70's. Then he had a better run than when he started. We'll see how it goes. Personally I have AU as the West favorite this year due to all the returning guys.

How in the fricking frick does the OP have 33 upvotes?

People must still be pissed Saban didn't bolt to UT.

And by people I mean LSU and Auburn fans

Why not? Saban has a new QB, an OC that isn't proven at developing QB's, and still has difficulty defending uptempo O's.

Well, yeah, there's that. But not everyone has Omaha in their sights.

As long as Saban is still hauling in #1 recruiting classes it will be hard to beat him year in and year out... Suxs to say but our record, as long as Malzahn stays put, will be close just because of all Saban's big recruiting classes.. I believe he is stumped by the HUNH, but talent and discipline alone on his team will get him a .500 record or just below against AU his remaining time at bama...

QB production will be the difference maker. Auburn is set at QB, bama isnt

I guess this is what LSU fans went through after the '08 season.

Not even close. LSU had the double whammy of no QB and no defense. "Co-coordinators" is not a term I can read or hear and not cringe.

Sounds eerily similar to the way Auburn fans were praising Chizik after 2010.

Does anyone realize Auburn was only a few of plays away from a somewhat mediocre season? Thats just the way the ball bounces sometimes. I'd hold off on proclaiming Malzahn as the greatest just yet

In all my years of watching college football, I've never seen Auburn handle being ranked highly preseason without choking badly. I'm interested in seeing how this year's team handles the pressure.

If you go back and look at all the national champions over the last few years, every one of them were a few plays away from a good or great season... FSU this year, a couple of plays in AU's favor and FSU wouldn't be even be mentioned for their accomplishments... Last year several teams having to lose to get bama in the championship, the year before the same thing, 2010 AU winning tons of close games... 2009 bama blocking two Tennessee field goal attempts... Luck is involved every year so let's throw your little statement out of the window or let's use it across the board...

Of course, Bama lost two games last year, a suck season for them. I can see why you're excited.
