Yet most people don't know what state Auburn is in. Odd
And according to a recent study, 1 in 4 Americans still believe the sun revolves around the earth. Let's not pretend the majority of the US are highly intelligent adults.

If you go back and look at all the national champions over the last few years, every one of them were a few plays away from a good or great season... FSU this year, a couple of plays in AU's favor and FSU wouldn't be even be mentioned for their accomplishments... Last year several teams having to lose to get bama in the championship, the year before the same thing, 2010 AU winning tons of close games... 2009 bama blocking two Tennessee field goal attempts... Luck is involved every year so let's throw your little statement out of the window or let's use it across the board...

Yes, few national title game participants have controlled their destiny from start to finish; most need fortune. However, don't deny how much more fortunate 2010 and 2013 Auburn were compared to to other teams. Most national championship participants aren't a handful of plays away from 4-5 losses. On top of those plays, Auburn benefited from other teams losing just like any other BCS program that didn't go undefeated did. Please do not equate the amount of good luck/fortune involved in 2010 and 2013 Auburn's seasons with the fortune Alabama had in their dynasty.

Alabama in 2009 was a handful of plays away from 3 losses.

Why? I can pick out a handful of plays that if were different, Alabama would have zero NCs under Saban.

I didn't limit my post to just Alabama. I admitted that most teams need a little help to get to the national championship. Auburn needed more than your typical amount of help. They caught a significantly higher amount of breaks on the field than other BCS era teams. On top of that, they got the off-the-field help that the SEC's perception grants their best programs.

Alabama was a few plays away from 0 national championships, but you can use that same argument for many past teams. If you don't recognize the significance of all the close wins Auburn had in 2010 and 2013, then that's your own issue. A close call here or there isn't uncommon, but Auburn had 4 close calls and a blowout loss. Aside from 2010 and 2013 Auburn, how many recent national championship participants do you know that were basically a play or two per game away from several additional losses?
