True. But isn't weather over a long period of time exactly what climate is?

Don't buy into a lot of the sidestepping double talk going on. Besides...Al Gore (Hero of "An Inconvenient Truth" about Global Warming) has one of, if not the largest carbon footprints in the state of Tennessee. My BIGGEST gripe about people like him is THEY start the Global Warming hysteria, and then when it is proven that the earths temperatures are actually decreasing decide to start calling it Climate Change.

As A guy that grew up near Chicago and learned to drive / deal with snow growing up, it still amazes me when it snows in South (now Mississippi). First, if they even think they are going to get a dusting the schools are canceled and the grocery stores are sold out like a hurricane is imminent. Then when it does snow you can't drive a mile without seeing cars in ditches. Y'all stay safe; smoke some meat or make a batch of chili to enjoy with the game today

Don't Ice Ages and little Ice Ages as a response to Global Warming? Like mother nature tries to reset the earth?

How the hell is 4 " of snow snapping trees?

Did it start out as ice? Or just a sloppy slush?

You have to admit snow in the lowcountry and midlands of SC on Nov.1st is just plain weird, no matter the cause. This just seems unnatural...snow this early. I hope like hell this isn't Mother Nature's preview of what this winter is going to be like. I'm buying a generator..I do not want to be stuck without electricity for a week like I was during last year's ice storm. That was utter misery.

Not overly concerned. Anomoly's like this happen every so often.
In 1970 Columbia actually had a low of 15 degrees.
In 1972 there was a high of 88 degrees.

Way down South the snow is very wet, so typically there is a lot of ice mixed. When we get snow it usually starts out with a lot of sleet then turns to ice. Taht is why we have such a hard time driving on the roads when it snows. Because the roads are covered in ice, too.

We have a lot of northerners that live in this area and they used to laugh because of the wrecks when it snows. Then when they got on to roads they started having wrecks and began to understand!

I lived a couple years in Groton, CT and it was so easy to get around there in the snow. They were prepared for it, though. It rarely snows down here so we are completely unprepared when it does.

Funny thing was, when I was in CT they would freak out over the mildest thunderstorms. That was when I would just shake my head and laugh and tell them they needed to come down south to experience a truly rockin' summer thunderstorm.

Chili sounds good, actually. I think I'll get some started since I'm watching the game from home tonight.

I'm not an expert...but it all does seem to by cyclical.

I DO know that when much of the data supporting Global warming was gathered they had placed many to the temperature gathering equipment near heat generating things, that showed artificially higher temps. The "science" in MANY studies (not all) has been severely flawed. Add t that that some scientist that have come out against the "science" has seen funding disappear...they've been threatened and some fired for speaking out against it.

If Global warming/Climate Change people want people to believe what they are selling they need to let good solid science sell the theory...not threats and coercion and manufactured data.

This is completely inaccurate. September of this year was the warmest September since we began recording temperatures, and several months in 2014 have set records. The average temperature of the earth has not decreased.

Having a big group (sixteen or seventeen people) come over this afternoon for the Georgia/Florida game. My wife is cranking out some chili and hot wings for the group.

Former Navy wife. Ex was stationed in Groton on a fast attack that has since been decommissioned..The USS Groton, SSN 694.

Lived off of Rt 12 in Groton before moving to Ledyard and then finally getting into Navy Housing which put us in Nautilus Park back in good ol' rotten Groton.

Don't bring facts to the table with these Birthers.

They won't come around until their backyard looks like Lake Mead.

There is a LOT of conflicting evidence. I am not saying that NOTHING is happening...just the hysteria that many like him start, then profit hugely by this hysteria through books and movies, etc. Then when their own lifestyle is looked at, it shows how concerned they really are.

And this seems to indicate just the opposite of what you are saying:

Not sure what you mean by that since I just posted a link showing that record low temperature days have actually outpaced record highs by 2 to 1 in 2014.

Are these the type facts you are talking about? I have data to support what I am saying.

Hey...this is a sports board and not a political or weather board. I never should have brought it up here. My apologies.

I should not have hi-jacked the thread/board.

Would have been my first guess. Service + medical seems like a popular mix.

Do you still like Navy men?
