Tennessee was 11th in the SEC in % of capacity in 2013. I guess not some much through thin as they said.....

Yeah, but that doesn't take into account total capacity. And also, fyi, our avg. attendance was higher than what your stadium can hold, so suck it

I think Columbia, MO being at #7 is more strange than the ranking of Knoxville.

Guys, it's an arbitrary list on the internet. Sorry you're town didn't make the list, but who cares. All in all, Knoxville is a great sports town. All you have to do is look at attendance during a horrible stretch or checkout tv ratings for any sports event

I have to imagine we're top 5 in attendance, nationally, for each of the Big 3 Sports.

Football and men's and women's basketball.

at this list, especially L.A.

L.A. is renowned for being a terrible sports town.

Two levels of validation -- Answers.com and utsports.com. And now it's come through SEC-R. By the time a story reaches this point, it must be true. I mean, that's how I found out about #tDecline and Bieber being the new Elvis.

One of these is not like the other. And no, you were not top five for football or men's basketball last year.

Eta: in 2013 Tennessee football was sixth in attendance, basketball was eight, and women's basketball was first. I don't think any other school can come close to those numbers

Interestingly, those numbers correspond pretty well in inverse correlation to the respective teams' level of success in 2013. Fair-weather fans?

I know, one is played on a grass or turf field and features an oblong ball.

Knoxville is a craphole.

No one notices, though, because the rest of Tennessee falls into that category too.

You're right. I changed course in midstream when I was going to snark on how pointless the sport of WBB is as well and compare it to popularity amongst the fanbase. Dammit, you're right.
