Things that have to happen to make the SEC great again

-LSU has to hire a coach with a championship ring. The SEC has no one besides Saban with one. Jimbo is really the only option to turn them around. Need those recruiting connections and big name recognition to drive a quick rebuild.
-Florida has to develop an actual offense under McElwain. Recruit high skill guys on offense and acquire a Tebow or Harvin or Hernandez type play maker.
-Tennessee has to fire Butch and get an actual coach instead of a perpetual optimist with no plan.
-Auburn has to adapt on offense or they risk turning into LSU 2.0.
-Texas A&M has to start recruiting better in Texas.
-Scar and UGA seem to be getting on the right track with their freshmen QBs. Have to not waste their talent in the next couple of years. I think UGA is really in a good spot with their talent on offense. Hopefully Smart makes a better OC hire at some point.
-Kentucky has done well. About as well as can be expected. Vandy is close to their peak as well.
-Mizzou...I have no idea. Just straight garbage on that lineup besides some defensive pieces.
-Arky took a nosedive, but I think they'll keep Bert and maybe have a good season in a couple years.
-MSU needs to develop Fitz just like Dak. He's shown some glimpses of being the next guy.
-Ole Miss better hope nothing comes from the NCAA, or Patterson is gone and you're back to being 2-10 every year.

Alabama get the Death Penalty for all their transgressions

Yeah, having Alabama lose their dominance will make the SEC an irrelevant conference at this point. There is no one to take over like Alabama did from Florida

To be fair, there are a bunch of coaches with rings. They were assistants, but they have rings.

Literally happened once. Had a couple 4-8's, but only one 2-10.

I know but the 2-10 year is memorable because of the double take by Trent I believe.

Yeah, from 2006-2009 Florida had three SEC championship appearances, 2 championships, 2 National Championships. From 2006-2011, LSU had 2 championships, 1 National championship.
Florida had the second best coach in America currently, possibly the best coach in America at the time, and was the king of the SEC.
LSU was there, and was obviously very good, but Alabama took the mantle from Florida as the team to beat.

First thing they need to do is lock down the in-state talent. The state may only produce 8 or 9 guys a year with high major FBS talent, they need to get all of them. They make things so much harder on themselves from a recruiting standpoint by having to either go out of state so much, or having to hit on the diamonds in the rough at an above average rate.

The whole SEC being great has never been the case save 4 or 5 years. it's mainly been Alabama and everybody else.
Florida- Johnny come lately. Never ever were good until 1990 and have fell off again. Have to have a HOF coach to be competetive.
Tennessee- Traditionally good but have made some horrendous coaching decisions.
State- Please
Ole Miss- Little bit better than state
LSU- Had a little run in the 2000's but have mostly been middle of the pack over time.
Georgia- Herschel Walker. Nothing else to speak of.
Auburn- Jeckyl and Hyde. As many bad seasons as good.
Arkie-Power in the SWC. SEC.....no.
Mizzou-no
South Carolina- Good lord
Kentucky-Can't dribble a football.
Vandy-Keeps our grad rates up but have always sucked.

Well I meant mostly that right now there are no teams that are in the title hunt. For teams to get back in it like the past 10 years or so, things have to change.

We've never been "2-10 every year".

Sounds good but what's the Top 10 list of guaranteed Saban, Harbaugh, Meyer level coaches. Anyone? Briles would be here if he weren't so toxic.
Then there are the Chris Peterson, Petrino level that are pretty "good chances." I would say Herman falls at the bottom of this one as Houston was left on a good path by Briles, and not screwed up by Sumlin staying to long.
Fedora somewhere here? Bring Cutcliffe back to get the team on track before he retires in 5 or so yrs?
Serious question. I would like to see a solid top 10 coaches broken up with the automatics, then the "good chance." (75%+), with the final level being in the 60%+ chance of true success range no less. The final range can't be picked apart with "he took over for so and so," and has his own path success.
