In 2006 you had the greatest luck in CFB history having an elite championship college coach sitting in the NFL.
The recent champions of CFB are Georgia, Michigan, LSU, and Clemson.
There’s only two guys on that list of four teams who are available and their names are Ed Orgeron and Dabo Swinney.

Also, in 2006 Auburn didn’t have a head coach that could compete with the money the REC assembled and Saban walked into a ripe recruiting scene able to buy any player he wanted.
The tables have turned and now Auburn can buy any recruit they want. Hugh Freeze will have three five star WRs next year among numerous other blue chip players.
