Usually, the one who farted is the one who asks, who farted, or accuses others of farting.

after the whole Miami debacle it's too easy. The NCAA doesn't really care if you cheat they just care that you don't make it blatantly obvious,

As a practical matter, this might actually be a reason to lend some credence to the coach's son's story - a reason why Mizzou would be the only SEC state school on that list that currently isn't doing any non-obvious cheating. Perhaps the Haith involvement in the Shapiro debacle was exactly it. Too close for comfort for that to be going on while Haith was our head coach. So our AD Mike Alden (who has a rep for being overly cautious when it comes to the NCAA) clamps down for an indefinite period on any sort of improper stuff no matter how minor and no matter how routine it is throughout the league, because the NCAA and media spotlight was trained squarely on a prominent Mizzou head coach.

Kind of an "uh oh, the boss is walking by, look busy" sort of reaction. "OK the media and the NCAA are all looking, don't give them anything to look at" sort of thing.

Then a few years later after Haith is gone and the Miami scandal is old news, that policy is still in place at Mizzou by default and at least one head coach is telling his fam (and who knows who else) "hey, just so you know, we are competing with one hand tied behind our back here."

Who knows, but its plausible.

Sounds like an excuse for poor performance. Vandy has been using that for years.

How old was the coach's son? Betting well under 18.

I knew how the responses to this thread would probably look, but it doesn't change what I was told by someone who lives with a coaching staff's family member. For a discussion forum like this, it makes for a hell of a discussion.

It doesn't even make for a decent discussion it is neither credible nor noteworthy.

Really....anybody can say anything these days. If people had to document all the hyperbole thrown out online the internet would cease to exist.

"My cousin is the roommate of the son of this guy..." is the beginning line of every true story ever.

Well, he actually is. Take it or leave it, but that's who my cousin is roommates with. And I'm only 7 away from 100 people voting to leave it, so why stop now.

statement by the son of the current head coach of one of Mizzou's sports teams, who my cousin happens to be roommates with. Take it for what its worth.

Not really the point. Even if it is true, your cousin telling you something that he heard from his roommate, who heard it from his dad, who heard it at work is not very likely to be true.
