What about our UGA and GT rivalries which were some of the most important in the deep south during the evolution of college football?

Are you even an Alabama fan or just an anti-auburn fan?

Just sayin, that comment was funny. I mean, it was just 2004 that Auburn even TIED Georgia Tech in SEC Championships.

I'm aware that it's the oldest. But one of the most important? No. I mean, it took Auburn 40 yrs after Tech left to match them in Championships.

Hunter is partially right.

What does Alabama have to gain in playing one of these schools?

We should play Samford, Jacksonville State, South Alabama, and maybe even Troy. Just not UAB.

it helps the other school getting part of that gate. it is as simple as that.
LSU does it for that reason only and I believe our legislature passed some law around us having to play other state schools I think..

I was going to say it's silly to be scared of UAB and Troy, but then I remembered what happens when you guys play Southern Miss or UCF or Louisiana-Monroe.

I guess you can bring the smack about USF or ULM, that's deserved. However, I don't know why you're bringing up Southern Miss. They managed to defeat Alabama all of twice in over 20 years of playing them.

Perks of not having any other D1 in-state schools outside of SC and Clemson. SC and Clemson play other in-state teams all the time without fear of turning them into a bigger program.

Blanked at Legion Field by Southern Miss. WTF. Dubose should have been forced to walk back to Tuscaloosa.
