So if Florida isn't good then why did they almost beat LSU? LSU is supposed to be the best in the SEC, but if Florida really is bad then that's at least the forth bad team to give LSU a good game.

Honestly, who really cares about rivalries? Does it really matter who you are playing? At the end of the day, you just want your team to win no matter the opponent.

Those are questions asked by those without a rival. I'm working on getting you a rival so you won't have to wonder what it's like anymore.

I got this.

Schools with actual rivals perhaps?

You can google information about the UF/UG rivalry there are even books about the game. Spend some time learning about rivalries. They are great.

Ok but to a lot of people, just another game on the schedule like a LSU/Vanderbilt or Florida/aTm game, may mean more to them because of a spouse or in-law rivalry

Also LSU has an actual "rival" in ole miss and Arkansas. LSU/ole miss have played more times and dates back farther than FLa/UGA

Jax changed the law for the Jags and open containers are allowed during game days and for this game.

There's no way they could enforce it anyway. There's probably 120k people running around the stadium prior to the game.

This game is easily on my bucket list. The hardest part right now is getting a crew to drive to Jacksonville. Probably buy a hotel at St. Simons next year so the drive isn't as bad, Definitely checking out Frat Beach and The Landing

Let's put it this way:

I know that UGA is probably going to get its arse kicked this year and I'm still going to drop a grand or so on hotel rooms, booze, food, and other activities surrounding the actual game itself.

And even with a loss like last year, I never walk away regretting having spent the money.

Best football vacation imaginable.

Try to find a way to take Wednesday through Sunday off and do the following:

1. Stay in Savannah Wednesday night and drink on River Street
2. Drive down to SSI/Jekyll Thursday and have dinner on one of the islands. Maybe hit up Jekyll and the Sea Turtle Center and drink at the Jekyll Island Club like an old rich person. If golf is your thing, try to sneak a round on the Jekyll courses.
3. Spend all Friday on SSI, eat at Southern Soul BBQ, get hammered on Frat Beach
4. Drive down early AM to Jacksonville on Saturday, set up shop in Talleyrand or seriously just bum around the stadium and the Landing. It's in-fricking-credible.
5. Grab some bloody Marys back in GA on Sunday AM and make the long journey back home

ETA: Also worth noting that Jekyll usually does some sort of concert or alumni thing the Friday before the game. One year Drivin N Cryin played a concert (which got cut early, IIRC, due to the hurricane in 2012) and another they had Dooley and Lindsay Scott signing books and telling stories

Pretty much anything goes for this game. A couple of years ago, we were walking to the stadium from the Landing behind a big group of strippers wearing nothing but see-through bras and thongs, passing out free lap dance cards to everyone.

It's a good time

GA Tech USED to be our biggest rival, now it is Florida - hands down

(GA Tech also used to be one of the premier teams in college ball, not so much anymore - they are now a better than average team good for 8 or 9 wins a year)

Many younger Gators will tell you that FSU is their bigger rival, but old school Gators KNOW better

Hell, SOS carried this fricking rivalry to USCjr

THIS YEAR, the game is for the SEC East.

This is easily one of the biggest games of the year, not just in the SEC, but nationally as well

In no particular order:

Iron Bowl
WLOCP
Red River Rivalry
USC vs UCLA
Mich vs OSU

THOSE are the biggest and most anticipated rivalry games in college ball

Hell, you don't even have to look at the TV schedule - CBS auto picks the WLOCP EVERY YEAR before the season starts

I'm glad LSU doesn't have a true rival.

In fact, I wish LSU would have a bye on rivalry week at the end of the season. Or else play someone like Tulane on rivalry week.

It would give them more rest for the SEC championship game the following week.

I don't think enough people realize that we don't give a shite if we are or are not someone's rival. Bama is our toughest game every year so yeah, they are our number 1 enemy. That has nothing to do with it being called a rivalry or whatever the frick.

Being in Gainesville I've made the trip a number of times. Great atmosphere and is even better if your team wins. Those Georgia women are pretty too.
