Well ga tech just does enough to stay relevant . They have to recruit better but that's with any offense you run. It brings long drives to take time off the clock and keep the defense on the field and in return it keeps your offense off the field. it can never truly be stopped because all it takes is an little gap and remember all you need is 3 yards on every down. when the box is 10 deep you need a big 6-5 wide out thats one on one with a CB and can win the 50 / 50 ball. Like I said you have to have a solid d and Lamar Jackson running it lol with 5-4 star ol and backs etc lol it'll be the the old Nebraska

Since 2001... literally 2. One of which Richt had to outsmart himself to give them the chance. Though to be fair, they've had some successful offensive outings against us during that timeframe even in losses.

Ga Techs QB Thomas has no damn neck, he is a a wr/db posing as a qb...awful at throwing and Techs defense is pure shite, how did they dominate VU? Thomas reminds me of the Va Tech qb.

I didn't say it never worked in a single game, but after teams have faced it a couple of times, the successes of that offense are rare. They've beaten UGA twice out of 8 tries using the TO, but their recruiting is steadily getting worse. Unless Kirby Smart proves to be an equally bad hire as Johnson, Georgia will dominate the series for the forseeable future.

I love the cut blocks. It's the great equalizer when you're undersized.

I've been watching this game and have yet to see gt in wing t. I see the flexbone/ broken bone. The wing t has a fullback behind the qb and the halfback directly to his right or left. Then a wingback lines up just behind tight end or outside the tackle.

AKA a bitch move. Like kicking a dude in the dick when you know you can't take him in a fight.

these should not be allowed with the game as it is these days. where is the protection for the dline's knees?

And how were they doing vs. UG with the pro-style offense prior to Johnson?

Ga Tech runs basically a newer version of the wishbone triple option. Its a relic that keeps you handcuffed if you are down two scores in 2nd half because the qb doesnt throw...he is a runner.

It amazes how many people went along with this thread until somebody called the OP. Wing T isn't even similar to Flexbone Triple Option.

so at the end of this game or better yet GT season lets count the number of DL that tear their knees up against them. I'll bet it's no more than DL that play against Alabama. I love it when people take a stance on what they think should be illegal with no proof to back the claim up.

If GA tech had Louisville players running that offense it would be so scary, that offense is really unstoppable

So how come there's ZERO elite P5 teams running it?Are the coaches stupid or incompetent?Don't they get paid a ton of money?

Thank you. Triple "nasty" option that will injure your lineman with cut blocks. Not worth playing IMO. Ask FSU. It's the only scheme that works with far less inferior talent against better completion. Vandy hasnt caught on yet. Look at Navy last year. I haven't looked yet but I'm sure Clemson lost a lineman or two for the year after tonight.

It's my honest belief that a team must first be able to run before it can throw the ball. You have a greater chance statistically of not turning the ball over on a run pass option.

Once you can pound the rock it is demoralizing to a team that can't stop it.

I get your point, but GT, Navy, & Army do not run the wing T. They run the flexbone, aka. Hambone, aka Ga Power Co. it's option based but not the same.

Has Georgia tech switched the wing T this year? I haven't seen them play yet. Paul Johnson has been a flexbone triple option guy for a LONG time.

That's what I was thinking. I've always thought that the only team that's run the actual wing-t in college in recent years has been Delaware.
