Is this similar to when Arkansas fans tried claiming Russell Wilson as one of their own?

Arkansas really does deserve props for the quality of football coaches they've produced.

But when will someone address the elephant (hurricane, land thief, cowboy, war tiger, whatever) in the room? That is, why are football coaches so eager to escape Arkansas and make their mark elsewhere?

The brain drain our state suffers is sad. All these great coaches and Pee-Paw ends up with Houston Nutt who was a turn-coat traitor that transferred when Holtz told him he wasn't good enough and brought in Calcagni.

If you can get out, get out.

Part of that is the U. of Arkansas HC job was on lockdown by Broyles for nearly 20 years. Broyles was the best at taking on young coaches, grooming them and then sending them off to other schools prepared and ready to lead their own programs.

Broyles placed so many coaches he could have started up a coaching search firm and had that whole industry sewn up for decades too. He's got so much money and such a love for Arkansas he rather'd just keep doing his A.D. job and building up the U. of Arkansas.

Yeah, I know about Broyles massive influence and effect on Arkansas football (and athletics in general.) I was just trying to steal the whole joke bringing up how many astronauts are from Ohio (a lot) and asking what it is about Ohio that makes people want to leave this planet.

Have you ever known anyone who escaped to Arkansas?
