1. No. I'm poor
2. University needs to have horses, you don't ride/show your own.
3. No care or transport. When you get to a show, the host team provides all horses. Horse names are drawn, and you don't ride the horse at all before you go in and jump.
4. It's pretty damn expensive, especially when traveling far.

Doesn't this kinda ruin half the point of the sport? I know nothing about horse jumping and such (so maybe I shouldn't even be commenting ) but I figured the relationship you have with your own horse was a big part of it.

Then it becomes about the horse as much if not more than the rider, and the richer programs would always be able to afford nicer horses. This tests a rider's ability to make any horse perform basic tasks of the discipline. At the upper levels, it is all about the horses. A great rider will get an average horse a bit farther in a competition, but they will very rarely win major competitions on a less than great horse because the athletic demands of the tope level events.

It's equitation so the rider is judged, not the horse

I'm surprised that UF isn't into this as well with Ocala being so close.

They may have a team, just not a varsity NCAA recognized team. Hell, even tulane has a club team. They compete ihsa.

Here's a list, didn't check the whole thing

LINK

Midway has a horse program, but they are still an ihsa team.

Hey Morans!

Equestrian is a very inexpensive way to boost your Title IX numbers

1. Rich Chicks ride horses
2. They ride horses they own
3. They care for and transport these horses
4. The university spends very little on the team but gets a big boost to Title IX participation numbers by adding 30 female athletes to the balance sheet at minimal cost.

you forgot one.... equestrian girls are smart and their GPA pulls up the athletic department GPA.

Auburn has arguably the best overall Equestrian program in the nation right now followed very closely by UGA.

Sorry but our 5 titles in the past 10 years (3 in a row '08,'09,'10) say otherwise.

Wasn't women's Equestrian South Carolina's only national championship before they won the college WS?
Won the women's track and field title in 2002 when it was held at LSU's Bernie Moore Stadium.

They have English (equitation on the flat and jumping) and western. Not too sure what events for western but maybe reining?

We didn't have a western team

I'm thinking this could make NASCAR more fun. Track owns and supplies cars, drivers and pit crews draw numbers to see who gets which car 1 hour before race.

Aggies just beat Georgia and south Carolina in the national champtionships. That is their 10th national championship according to this article. Not sure why you guys think the Aggies will get raped. Sorry for providing facts.
