I'm betting this was a case of about 5-8 black players on the team feeling strongly about doing this, and the rest not wanting to seem like they don't care about their race and not participating. Isn't that kind of how a mob mentality works?

I just don't see what they're trying to accomplish by ousting the university president, when they could be doing much more productive, positive things to quell possible racism on campus. I don't know about the day to day life on campus there, it could be really horrible for all I know. I just think their energy could be focused elsewhere and it would speak to their cause so much more.

Does anyone really know whats going on here ? Google is your friend. 3-5 weeks ago the Missouri board was tying to get the President (whatever his title) to resign, the professors were mostly behind this move. So what was the deal ? I wont go into full detail, but it is relevant to this issue, imho, it had to do with broken contracts between Planned Paranthood and Missouri.

Just google it and do the math yourself. There was a progressive moved to get him fired 3 or 4 weeks ago, then we have this come about.

Mighty perculiar timing. Professors leading a rally or using students is nothing new. It just happened out in California with them getting or trying to get the US Flag banned from the university.

Members of the University of Missouri football team raised awareness of the school's racial turmoil Saturday, joining forces with the student protesters and threatening to boycott football activities until president Tim Wolfe is removed from his position.

The student group leading the protest, Concerned Student 1950, issued its list of demands, which the Columbia Daily Tribune published, to the university last month. It's unclear if the university has taken steps to adopt any of the proposed changes, or if the striking football players want all of these demands met.

I. We demand that the University of Missouri System President, Tim Wolfe, writes a handwritten apology to the Concerned Student 1-9-5-0 demonstrators and holds a press conference in the Mizzou Student Center reading the letter. In the letter and at the press conference, Tim Wolfe must acknowledge his white male privilege, recognize that systems of oppression exist, and provide a verbal commitment to fulfilling Concerned Student 1-9-5-0 demands. We want Tim Wolfe to admit to his gross negligence, allowing his driver to hit one of the demonstrators, consenting to the physical violence of bystanders, and lastly refusing to intervene when Columbia Police Department used excessive force with demonstrators.

II. We demand the immediate removal of Tim Wolfe as UM system president. After his removal a new amendment to UM system policies must be established to have all future UM system president and Chancellor positions be selected by a collective of students, staff, and faculty of diverse backgrounds.

III. We demand that the University of Missouri meets the Legion of Black Collegians' demands that were presented in 1969 for the betterment of the black community.

There are quite a few inconsistencies but I don't think any sort of critical thinking is appreciated. So, kindly take your logic and facts and reasoned analysis elsewhere.

If they want to actually stand up for human rights, go serve in Sub-Saharan Africa. Don't join a petty bitchfest against a guy who can't win no matter what he does, because people are fricking insane

That isnt what I was talkin about, I heard this 3 weeks ago.

Some progressive groups were callig for the Chancellor's head two or three weeks ago about something to do with Planned Paranthood and Missouri.

SOME MORE INFO....

Canceled contracts between MU and Planned Parenthood
Since Aug. 21, MU has canceled 10 contracts with the following Planned Parenthood branches across the country:

Five contracts with Planned Parenthood of Kansas and Mid-Missouri in Overland Park, Kansas
Two contracts with Planned Parenthood of the St. Louis Region in St. Louis
One contract with Planned Parenthood of South Palm Beach and Broward Counties in Boca Raton, Florida
One contract with Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee in Nashville, Tennessee
One contract with Planned Parenthood of Northeast Missouri in Kirksville

Rep.: Chancellor Loftin's job on the line over Planned Parenthood

Posted: Oct 21, 2015 11:04 AM by Annie Hammock, KOMU 8 Interactive Director
Updated: Oct 21, 2015 8:42 PM

COLUMBIA - The University of Missouri Board of Curators was meeting Wednesday, but officials would not comment on reports that discussion centered on calls to fire Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin because of a dispute over Planned Parenthood.

Rep. Caleb Jones, R-Columbia tweeted the meeting was an attempt to fire Loftin, but, when KOMU 8 News spoke to him, he would make no further comment.

The dispute centered on a doctor who was performing medical abortions at the Planned Parenthood facility in Columbia. Dr. Colleen McNicholas had some privileges at the University of Missouri Hospital.

Republican lawmakers said that was illegal, because MU is a public institution and taxpayer funds are not to be used to pay for abortions. MU Health Care said the law did not apply because McNicholas was not an employee of the system and was only able to refer patients to the hospital and then follow their progress.

So, the board met with intent to fire the Chancellor, the professors wanted him gone.....And 3-4 weeks later we have a "STUDENT LED PROTEST" demanding the Chancellor resign!!!!!!!!

You can't make this stuff up. These Liberal professors want this guy fired, and a few weeks latter we have a student led protest about facts that don't add up.

Earth to Mars !!
