Not to mention that the UGA team has already beat the Clemson team with Watson on it.
Really? Watson was 2/4 with a TD pass in that game. He only played in one drive. That was the season opener of his true freshman season. I'm glad you vividly remember beating Watson.

So UGA lost to them then?

No, just a stretch. Congratulations on beating a team "with Watson on it".

quote: It's really not. All the credit in the world to Clemson bc they were the best team on 1/9. With that said, if they were in the SEC they would not even have made the playoffs. Scrappy team but they are a 3 loss SEC squad. Never underestimate what it means to go through the SEC undefeated. just stop SEC has been the strongest conference for a long time, but this year, the ACC was the better conference - they proved it on the field And Clemson a 3 loss SEC team? they beat: Auburn, SC & Bama (and the Bama game was no fluke) They also beat FSU & GA Tech - 2 ACC squads that beat SEC teams this year. FSU beat Ole Miss and Florida & GA Tech beat UGA, KY & Vandy Sure, LSU & Tennessee would have had a shot to beat Clemson, but it would not have been a given & outside of those 2, there was not another team in the conference that would likely have even been competitive

Three losses would be the most they would of had. I'd put them at 2 for sure.

The Big 12 hasn't won a football, basketball, women's basketball, or baseball title since 2008. (Baylor's 2012 title is not legitimate because Griner is male)

The following SEC schools have won at least one of those in that span:

Alabama
Auburn
Florida
Kentucky
LSU
South Carolina
Tennessee
Texas A&M
Vanderbilt

Tulane built this bitch

In 1894, Green Wave went 0-4 against Texas, Alabama, Sewanee, and Ole Miss

in 1892, Purple Tigers went 5-1-1
W 22-4 vs Vanderbilt (back when the Dores rocked college football)
W 54-0 vs Tennessee
L 0-30 @ Virginia (who knew the Hoos had good football once)
W 10-0 @Tennessee
W 22-16 @ Washington & Lee
W 28-14 @ Vanderbilt
T 6-6 @ Louisville

In 1899, Purple Tiger "Iron Man" team went 12-0-0 and outscored opponents 322-10 in mostly road games in roughly a 2 month season. That year they beat current P5 schools…
Georgia
Georgia Tech
Texas
Texas A&M
Auburn
Tennessee
LSU
Ole Miss
UNC

They also beat Tulane in NOLA 23-0

OU NCAA Titles softball, gymnastics, final four in basketball (beat Aggie), and football playoff. CWS in baseball a few years back.

OU is all I care about, the Big 12 and Texas A&M suck.

DABully: All the respect for the SEC (my daughter attends Ole Miss) but quit saying Clemson would be a two loss team in the SEC. They were 3-0 versus the SEC, shutout the B1G champ, won the toughest conference, and beat The Tide in the Natty this year.

Obviously, which is why you have so many posts on an SEC forum.

Supposedly UGA was an automatic loss for Clemson. Ask Ga Tech.

Arkansas never did shite at anything! The best thing to come out of Arkansas was Barry Switzer.

That you're good enough to almost beat Clemson? Also, we did go 3-0 against the SEC beating the 2 best teams in the west. I'd love to play LSU again. Hopefully y'all will be relevant again someday and it will happen.

Congrats. Y'all deserve it. And there was no Runner up in the SEC. Auburn was on par with Tenn, LSU, Florida, Arkansas(depending on what team showed up) UGA and TAMU. Bama was clear #1 and everyone else was average. But top to bottom still better than the ACC. Hell, VT lost to UT and played to the ropes against a team that finished 8th in the SEC.

I somewhat agree. I admit that the ACC had the better record in head to head this season. But Imo playing a full SEC season is far and above harder than playing a full ACC season. Im not knocking Clemson at all, they showed up and took the prize. But to be honest, it took Clemson having a senior QB that had a very very good night, to beat Bama with a FR QB! If they played a best out of 3 between these two, I honestly believe that Bama would would take it. And thats very hard to admit coming from a Vols fan! Lol!

The fact that Bama would still be a favorite if they played again says a lot.

If most would ask themselves this question, it would make things clear.

Bama played a full SEC schedule including USC anD went undefeated. Now put Clemson in that schedule with how they played all season. Does Clemson come out with less than 2 losses?

I say it is in the realm of possibilities but not likely. They played very touch and go all season and lost to Pitt and fortunate to win a couple others. Bama dominated. I'm glad as hell Clemson won and I know full well that they can play with anyone. They are the true national champions. But they did have a path of lesser resistance compared to Bama.

That's actually the beauty of college football and the playoffs. You only get one shot and they made it count. Good for them.
