A. When did I ever say UGA was upgrading at the position? If he merely matches the numbers posted by Cox, we still trot out a legitimate offense.

B. No, Richt has not shown that he will bench SRs for the better player. Huge complaint from me. See: Tereshinski, Joe or Evans, Bryan.

C. There are certain pieces of common knowledge about last year's back up QBs that answer your questions:

1. Mettenberger and Gray were not ready to play. And in all likelihood, Gray won't be any better this year.

2. The shirt was coming off Murray after the LSU/Tennessee debacles, but the kid was injured. Shoulder tendinitis that didn't heal until the bowl practices. He was lined up to replace Cox.

As bad as you think Cox was, he still threw 24 TD's and 2500 yards in 2009. And now, a freshmen that was injured most of his RS year is going to come in and put up similar numbers?

Maybe if they're the next incarnation of David Greene. But I doubt it. Combine that with what should be another shaky defensive year for UGA, and I don't see how they win more than 8-9 games unless they luck out and get a ton of turnovers like in 2007.

5. Kentucky = 7-5, 3-5
6 Vanderbilt = 1-11, 0-8

This. Meyer is still one of the best coaches in the country. Even though they have a new QB and lost alot on defense they have had top 5 recruiting classes the past few years.

I realize that Cox put up some quality numbers that Murray will struggle to match...however, I think it was clear that AJ Green contributed to much of that. Not only that, but I can't see Murray matching the INT total Cox accumulated. That was an anamoly.

I firmly believe that an 8 win season would be massive disappoint for this team. We return excellent special teams, we return 9 of the top 10 OL, we return all of our RBs, and we return every receiver except our #3 guy. Like I said earlier, this seasons depends more heavily on the D than Aaron Murray's right arm.

you still think UF is a world beater team like they were in 08-09? think again. UF is going down on 9/18/2010 and will end up with worse record than 2007. don't be too surprised with a 4-5 loss season.

In 2007, UF brought back only 2 starters from the 2006 national title team, and had an OG starting at DT the last half of the season. They were the worst Florida defense in 30 years and still went 9-4, spanking UT.

This year, UF returns 6 starters on defense, including probably the deepest DT roster in the SEC. UF won't lose more than 3 games, and personally, I'd be surprised if one of those losses comes against a depleted UT team working on it's 3rd coach in 2 years.
