This is what makes you a quality poster. Kill 'em with facts, then roast em where it hurts the most.

Have you accepted Jeebus?

A trip to a qualified head shrinker may also be in you future and it is now included with your health insurance thanks to our former POTUS.

This post is why Texas is ranked in the preseason polls every year.

13 was one of the best years the SEC East has ever had.
with regards to quality depth & based on final rankings - 2013 is the 7th best season, out of 25, in East history (rankings from Final AP Poll)

...twice, the East has finished with 4 Top-25 ranked teams.

2001 = #3 Florida 10 wins, #4 Tennessee 11 wins, #13 Carolina 9 wins, #22 Georgia 8 wins (sum = 42)
2012 = #5 Georgia 12 wins, #8 Carolina 11 wins, #9 Florida 11 wins, #23 Vanderbilt 9 wins (sum = 45)

...seasons with 3 Top-25 ranked East teams

1998 = #1 Tennessee 13 wins, #5 Florida 10 wins, #14 Georgia 9 wins (rankings sum = 20)
1997 = #4 Florida 10 wins, #7 Tennessee 11 wins, #10 Georgia 10 wins (sum = 21)
2007 = #2 Georgia 11 wins, #12 Tennessee 10 wins, #13 Florida 9 wins (sum = 27)
1992 = #8 Georgia 10 wins, #10 Florida 9 wins, #12 Tennessee 9 wins (sum = 30)
2013 = #4 Carolina 11 wins, #5 Missouri 12 wins, #24 Vanderbilt 9 wins (sum = 33)
1999 = #9 Tennessee 9 wins, #12 Florida 9 wins, #16 Georgia 8 wins (sum = 37)

** 2001 (20) would tie 1998 as the best finish using just the highest 3 ranked East teams. 2012 (22) would finish between 1997 & 2007 using just the highest 3 ranked East teams.

*** the East has finished with just 2 Top-25 ranked teams (even highly ranked) multiple times, while quality depth of the division was down.

Nope.

ESPN is the reason Texas is ranked in the preseason polls every year. All that dough spent on the LHN and then texas still can't win. Generally speaking, no not all the time, teams rise and fall over time based on current and historic success. A school like Alabama or Oklahoma is easy to put in the polls each year the same way stock brokers put Microsoft in their portfolios over some quality start up. Most folks are sheep and want to keep their jobs by not going out on a limb.

Seabiscuit was not the greatest horse of his era but he was the best marketed horse of his era. It got a lot of ink in the Great Depression because his owner used to drop cases of booze off to the press box before he ran. Free booze to sportswriters - especially in that era - got you all the positive ink and free press you wanted.

Things don't change much from generation when folks with money have a vested interest in the press coverage they get.

FCS Missouri State went 4-8 last season. They're predicted to finish 9th out of 10 teams in the Missouri Valley Conference.

Saturday they put up 43 points, 353 passing, and 492 total yards on offense.

In 2016, their FBS opponent was Kansas State, which finished the year 80th in NCAA total defense. They managed 0 points and 54 yards of offense.

In 2016, the total number of games where they exceeded 353 yards passing or 492 total yards of offense was exactly 0.

So, in a nutshell you can't stop a runny nose.

Hope this helps.

If he really wanted to be grounded just stick this copper pipe up his bum and nail the other end into the ground.

I don't know about quality but all I have to do is show up in a thread and some Mizzou posters just flow to me like bees to flowers.

I still think Belle, Mike, and One are the holy trinity when it comes to rustling the jimmies of the Mizzou masses.

It's true, we're all here because of your posting, not because this is a thread about the East/Missouri.

I mean if you want to judge the entire season on the 1st half of the first game of the season, that's some pretty stupid shite.

Luckily we play again Saturday.

I dunno, watching that Florida game for the 1st quarter may have been enough. Unless the Gators cane find some O it is going to be a long season.

OP asked for reasons he should be tempering his enthusiasm.

I gave him reasons. What he does with them is up to him.

What color is the sky in your world?

Poor Texas teams would get overranked before the LHN and will be when ESPN finally pulls the plug.

Pretty sure Taco Tech has been mostly ignored outside of the Pirate and nobody gave 2 poops about Baylor till they went full on rape and started winning. TAMU got love when they had a product to sell like JFF or the Wrecking Crew.

After that first half of defense last week I should have no expectations for this season, but watching the rest of our competition this weekend and none of these guys did anything that makes you think they can runaway from the rest of the pack. Will one of you guys do something and get this little voice in the back of my head to shut up? God help me if we beat SC this weekend and show improvement on defense in doing it. I'll be fully bought in and primed for a nut punch.

You gave up over 30 points to an FCS team that isn't even a GOOD FCS team.
