easier area to pry recruits out of. Win-win.

Pull a ton of recruits from Georgia, Florida, Tenn, Kentucky, and South Carolina did ya?

Edit: Nice, you guys pulled a ton of kids from Florida.

3 from TN, 3 from GA, 7 from FL.
That's almost half the class.
Last year we got 2 from those states.

Thanks for your interest in Mizzou football

IT's to bad we haven't hung on to more of TX though. We got some really good players from there, like Sam and Josey

True, but I trust in Pinkel's evaluation of talent. We all knew this would happen when we transitioned to the SEC. A few years from now, we'll be talking about the great players we got from Florida.

Congrats. Maybe next year you'll pull more than 1 top 50 recruit from Ga.

I know. Pinkel has his system that he got from Don James.

Except this part is not true. No one has won the SEC with out having a top 5 class two years before for that last decade or so

I don't really know the history of the SEC, but is there a reason that SC was added to the SEC over Clemson, which was far more prestigious and had an athletic program that was light years ahead of SC?
Got SC on your mind, huh?

Thanks for your interest in SC athletics.

Nope. A message from a UGA fan regarding trading SC for Clemson piqued my interest.

Simple answer? When the SEC was looking for a team in SC we were unaligned with a conference while Clemson was still in the ACC. If Clemson had bolted the ACC when we did (as they were supposed to...) they would probably have been chosen over us.

Good info, thanks. Looks like in the long term it all worked out in SC's favor

Agreed, you guys chose two great schools to start them at

I was just responding in kind to how he was treating me.

It's weird to have ATM as the biggest recruiting presence in that state now. Kind of hurts our ability to sell the SEC story to kids around there. I'd like to see us push the upper-midwest better - especially with this cold of a winter, wouldn't be hard to sell being able to play in tropical environments.

Thanks. It wasn't a troll. I'm sincerely interested in the history of the decision. Arkansas joining too.

As a point of reference... I heard on the radio that Missouri never pulled a Texas recruit that received a Longhorn offer during our XII days. Not one. So the fact we held onto Nate Brown, Tavon Ross and our other early commits (who later received home state offers) is indeed significant.

which brings up another issue. We have a hard time holding on to our highly ranked in state recruits.

Not surprised; Florida has a ton of kids. Of those 7, only Rocel McWilliams got an offer from us, and that was a pretty late run on our part. The other six didn't get offers from Florida, F$U, or I think even Miami.

Not saying they will suck, just that there are a lot of decent-to-pretty-good kids coming out of high school down here. It's one of those states like Texas or California where the sheer numbers mean you're going to see a lot of players from those states all over the place. If Florida or Free Shoes doesn't come knocking, or one of the bigger SEC programs, why not head to Mizzou if they do?
