The SWC probably could have survived if they had kept OU and OSU from the start. Houston was a very recent addition. Arkansas and Houston only shared a football conference for 15 years or so. They had already gone dumpster diving before we announced our departure in 1990.

Arkansas was not a founding member of the SWC.
They entered the conference later on after it had been around for years
