The only reason Lyle is still employed at Tennessee is Josh Dobbs

How many times did Dobbs bail his arse out over the last 3 years?

It started when Justin Worley got injured against Ole Miss in 2014. If Worley doesn't get hurt, Dobbs doesn't play the rest of the year. The next 2 weeks:

Bama beats us by 50
We lose to SC thus killing any hope of bowl eligibility. Seat gets hot for Lyle

Peterman starts in 2015, we get blown out by Oklahoma, Florida, Arkansas, and Georgia (No Dobbs, no 21 point comeback, no "Signature Win"). Seat is scorching.

Bama blows us out after the bye week, Lyle is gone before the Kentucky game. We probably lose to Kentucky and have the first 8 loss season in the history of Tennessee football.

Dobbs was the Greg Jennings of Tennessee, he put the team, Lyle, and the state on his back tho, time after time, and saved us all from Kentucky-like results for last 3 years.

But Dobbs is gone, and Lyle is done, it's over.

Dawgs,

Funny, I was just reminiscing on the VOL board about how many of our fans thought Dobbs' arm was holding us back.

It wasn't the best, and we probably would've been able to win a few more games if he had a good arm but he was still one of the funnest players to watch at UT

Lyle is going to pull out a win somehow against UGA. It is a cruel, cruel world.

Any idiot that believes that should go watch the latter portions of the first half against Georgia last year.

Everything going wrong for VOLS, atrocious playcalling, Hurd and Kamara both doing completely retarded things.

Dobbsus just bailed everyone out with his athleticism.

I can't help but wonder if Dobbs is also partially responsible for Richts firing. That 2015 UGA-TN game was classic Richt.

Partially, but I think a lot of the credit has to go to Florida.

Remember that time Lyle lost to Vandy? Then he stayed in the locker room while Dobbs took the heat at the press conference?

Remember when Dobbs was only 12 yards away from breaking Peyton fricking Manning's single season yardage record, only to have Lyle make him hand it off every time?

I remember, and it makes me redneck mad.

Wouldn't matter. Your AD would just make another stupid hire. Ghost of Fulmer will forever haunt UT.

Why would his ghost haunt us when he's currently employed by us? LINK

Agree. Dobbs was an amazing college QB. That SOB pulled more first downs out of his arse against our defense that I care to remember. And I don't even want to talk about that game winning Hail Mary with no time left on the clock in Sanford Stadium.

You would rather have your enemy inside the tent pissing out rather than outside the tent pissing in?

I wouldn't count on it. We have standards to uphold. The Florida game should be all the evidence anyone needs.

The idea that Philip Fulmer would ever be the enemy of Vol football or the University of Tennessee in general is downright hilarious. Even Johnny Majors at his drunkest was 120% orange alcohol by volume.

Dobbs had a phenomenal college career considering the pitiful staff he had all 4 years.
