It's not a double dribble when it goes off his leg. It's a double dribble when he touches it again with his hands AFTER the foul.

Look, I was pulling for Auburn, but if that had been called correctly, the outcome is exactly the same.

You guys are starting go sound like LSU fans.

There was no foul. You can tell by the fact that one wasn't called.

This gif literally shows Jerome being grabbed. You can’t get that upset about the double dribble when there arguably could have been a foul call.

Wtf is wrong with uga fans? Y’all have been hanging your hat on this - WE WERE frickING TRYING TO FOUL! If they call that foul we win. If they call the double dribble we win. Stop with this angle

It didn't cause the double dribble, but it's still a foul that occurred before the double dribble.

Arguably is the appropriate word. You could argue a foul should be called, but a double dribble happened.

Regardless of the foul or no foul or the double dribble no call, WHY THE frick are we intentionally fouling on a last second, desperation, half court heave????

Agreed. If they had called that foul UVA still gets a decent shot, but it likely would have played out differently. Maybe Brown's on the ball D would have caused another turnover?

No. You have exactly the same outcome as when they called the foul half a second later.

Jesus, it's like no Auburn fan has ever watched basketball before last night.

I think y’all still had a foul to give at that point which would have caused us to inbound? My memory is fuzzy

Not really...the inbound after crossing half court is significantly more favorable to the offense. UVA would have gotten some kind of shot, but I doubt it would have been as clean.

I think he crossed halfcourt when they called the foul.

You can get a clean shot with 4 seconds. In last year's SEC tournament, Sexton drove the length of the court and scored a game winning layup with within 4.4 seconds.

I didn't watch the game but in your gif I see that the defensive player created contact with the ball handler at the same time as the dribble behind the back. That wasn't called a foul but probably could have been. It's a judgement call.

Not debating this, but keep seeing people say a foul caused the double dribble.

I am aware, but UVA didn't exactly have a person with the ball skills of Sexton. Statistically speaking getting an inbound pass to someone going toward the basketball from that spot is harder than from the inbound spot once you cross half court. It's basic analytics.
