but it doesn’t violate the laws on the United States. Not even close.

Had the agents paid a third party to convince Reggie to sign with them without disclosing it there would have 100% been a violation of federal law, sorry you are to simple to grasp the concept, the actual statute is posted in this thread.

This started as a SEC (Securities Exchange Commision) investigation and would have likely ended there if it was not so widespread and dealing with multiple juristictions, that is what got the FBI involved.

In all honesty the schools are going to be fine unless it is proven they were aware, those involved and Adidias are fricked because they conspired together to commit corruption and violate quite a few federal laws and then filed false financial data with the SEC and IRS.

Short version, everyone involved at Adidias will be fired, the CEO will be fired, the players will be ineligable, and the agents will never have a lisc. again and all the adults will be prosecuted.

This potentially includes the parents of the players if they failed to disclose they were paid agents as well, it is a giant mess, although I doubt this gets that far.

There is such a thing called prosecutorial discretion. Not every single case will draw the attention of the Feds. Danged near every time a drug dealer or convicted felon is caught with a firearm, there is a potential federal charge but he DOJ only takes up a small portion of them. Usually the ones that are high profile or has a particularly bad actor they want to put away for a long time (no parole in the federal system).

What drew them here is the involvement of a $20 billion company. if it were just a rogue agent or coach, they would have almost certainly left it alone.

This was a 3 year invertigation that has spanned three US attorneys general, two FBI directors, and two US attorneys for the Southern District of New York - with some being Obama appointees and some being Trump appointees. If at any time a single one of them thought no law had been broken the case would have ended. That should tell you all you need to know.
