Battered Aggie Syndrome - It literally took a half for them to go from this is our year to er um er um we were competitive and had fun. For us, there is no transition - the world ends... but we have expectation

FYI: Nothing wrong with that (BAS)... just like there is nothing wrong with pointing out all the shite talking that preceded this season.

That's all we heard after last years Bama vs LSU game. Guess what the year before, Bama fans felt the same way about the regular season game.

Wait, Bama fans were happy and 'oh well' atleast we were competitive a few days after the LSU game 2 years ago? I had no idea!

Now this is a good point... your goals and acceptance is not at being champions.

This year I thought winning a BCS game was a realistic goal. We have never done that so it would be a big deal.

That has been obvious for 9 months yet the arguments raged on this board. All that has changed in the past 72 hours is you guys have finally accepted it.

If we go by what the board says then A&M would be lucky to win 9 game this season and will go in the gutter when JFF is gone. I don't believe any of that.

Again, I appreciate you coming around.

I completely expect us to beat LSU in BR this season if that is what you mean by coming around.

So, you agree with my post? You felt you had the best team, and you were pissed when you lost. You weren't saying, "What a great game! I'm so thankful we got to play in such a classic!! The food and drinks and fans were awesome!!!"

Screw the food, drinks and fans. We should've won and it sucks that we lost!!

Exactly - that is one of the differences the OP was referring to.

Don't worry, it is clear you guys will be happy and satisfied no matter the result. I almost envy not having to care about wanting to be champions. Almost.

BAS
Looks like someone has spent a ton of time on Aggie boards .

My pre-game prediction (it's searchable) was Alabama 38, Texas A&M 28. I never claimed 2013 would be "our" year.

Maybe it's just my singular vantage point, but some of you LSU fans sure seem angry & defensive. Why is that? And why do you care whether or not Ags enjoyed themselves on Saturday?

I'm glad you enjoyed yourselves. Just making an observation. It's kind of what happens on message boards.

You really have to win more than a couple to make such a statement. aka, nd, bama, usc...you are not in that league when it comes to natty's
No, you really don't. The fan attitude is a reflection of the experiences of the fan base. LSU has played for the SEC Championship 5 times in the last 12 years and the BCS Championship 3 times in the last 10 years. The SEC Championship Game has proven to be the stepping stone to the BCS Championship Game more times than not. I think the recent experiences of all of these championship games has given the fan base the "championship or bust" mentality.

That's what I don't understand. Why LSU fans so pissed that Aggie's enjoyed the game and aren't on suicide watch because of a loss? They wanted the board to melt and it didn't?

It seems to be more than just "making an observation;" it's more like grabbing on like pit bulls to your opinions, refusing to let go, and trying to convince everyone else that you're right.

riiiiight.

LSU fans would NEVER do something like that.

They would NEVER say they were the true champs in 2011 or claim the only reason a team beat Bama is b/c LSU played them the week before.

No, I just have worked with Aggies since 1999 (mainly in Houston) - some really awesome guys BTW, who through I have followed your program over the past 15 years. They have got me up to speed on all things Aggie over that time (before we were conference rivals).

Guilty of broad brush painting I know - you and a few others (West Coast comes to mind) were quite rational.

Angry? Heck no, I would go as far as ecstatic if it wasn't Bama with a W lol.

Hey I think it is great that you guys enjoyed yourselves. But again, if a component of the fan base is going to bang their chest for 9 months proclaiming that a historically mediocre program is going to take the nation by storm you must see why it is a bit amusing how quickly everyone slumped back into the 'we are just happy to be here and be competitive' mantra. I mean it was instantaneous... just like all good syndromes lol

Wait until JM leaves A&M. They will go back to shite just like Auburn did after Cam left. They are a one-man team just like Auburn was with Cam.

Have you seen our QB recruiting? No one will replace Manziel, but we have studs in the pipeline and we more talented overall in the season or two.

Were LSU fans happy, neutral or sad after the 2011 championship game? Did they say, heck so we lost but the food was tasty and we were competitive so heads up!? I think not. That is the difference the OP was trying to point out.

I have come to realize LSU has the most insecure fans in the SEC.

Your an idiot. How the hell does that make any sense? Beacause we are hard on our team when we lose etc., win the SEC and get back to me. WOW

Thanks for the response.

I don't think anyone has slumped back into anything. Expectations remain high.

But what do you want us to say/do? We lost. And it was a good game. Folks appreciate that.

I think you're being a tad disingenuous with your characterization of us as being just happy to be here. Being relieved as hell to be out of the B12 and appreciating the quality of Saturday's game are not mutually exclusive to wanting our team to do well.

Peace.

Our fan bases are just different. I wouldn't expect yall to understand.

When LSU loses, you make excuses while firing piss bombs at opposing fans.

When TAMU loses, we congratulate the other fans and go on our way.

You take it for merely being happy we played the game. I take it as class. I don't think my throwing a piss bomb at someone shows I care any more than congratulating them.

I don't expect our fan bases to understand each other. It's why we hated each other in the 80s and 90s so much from what I hear from my family. And it's why we'll hate each other going forward again.

Next time I'll cuss out some Bama fans and throw a hissy fit to prove I care. ;) Maybe I'll blame it on a cross division rival being more difficult or something along those lines.
