In 2004, Florida was #11 and Tennessee was #13. In one of the few times in the last decade that Florida and Tennessee played each other in a night game, it was a high scoring affair.

Florida Sophomore QB Chris Leak and Tennessee Freshman QB Erik Ainge went back and forth the entire evening.

With just under 5 minutes left, Ainge hit Jayson Swain for the potentially game-tying score. However, FG kicker James Wilhoit missed the Extra Point leaving Florida ahead 28-27 with a chance to run the clock out and take the win in Knoxville.

What happened next was one of the most unbelievable refereeing screw ups in the history of the series (2000 is arguably first, although Florida still had 2 more cracks at the endzone).

With 55 seconds left, Florida faced a punting situation. Right in front of an official, Tennessee player Jonathan Wade instigated a situation with FL WR Dallas Baker right in front of the referee.

Baker was penalized despite the referee clearly seeing Wade starting the back and forth.

What happened next is history. Wilhoit redeemed himself and hit the game winning FG. Since that fateful day, Tennessee has not beaten Florida, losing 10 in a row.

Influx of new coaches in 2005 started their downfall.

That sounds awfully similar to the phantom call on Malcolm Sheppard, in our 2009 game against Florida. Is that why Florida has struggled ever since?

SEC suspends Florida-Arkansas officiating crew

Nah, we're 1-0 vs. Arkansas since then.

Pretty sure Tennessee's downfall started when LSU beat that arse for the SEC title in 01'. They haven't recovered since.

Damn that was some horse shite. Think that ref was on the pay roll. About as blatant as the face mask no call in the ole miss /Bama game this year.
Referee staring right at the incidents.

Bigger deal than the 15 yards was the stoppage of clock. W/O that the game is over.

It was a bad call, but Strong's Defense still let a Freshman QB who'd never started a game to lead the team into FG range.

What does that have to do with your struggles? We've also struggled, so a victory over Arkansas in Bielema's first year doesn't really say much.

His whole point is that since that call Tennessee has not beaten florida. And since that other call UF has beaten Arky

We still had to drive down to field goal range with a freshman QB and no timeouts. You failed to stop us. It was karma for Gaffeny's "catch" on third and goal in 2000.

Just like Penn Wagers staring at Greg Robinson bear holding Ray drew on their miracle hail mary vs UGA in 2013.
