Good point. It can mean that. Absolutely. What I'm trying to get across is, with so many variables on acceptance, the rate alone is not a good barometer.
But, in the case of OM and MSU, acceptance is not a badge of honor. The standards are identical and embarrassingly low. Each school would raise their standards of possible.
A good example of the flaws of admission rates is law school. Your typical applicant applies to many schools. (Grad school is where the space limits really kick in) Also, a person will apply to schools at the upper end of their qualifications. Now, let's say two schools are remarkably similar in academic stature, with very similar admission standards. One is a private school with a $500 application fee, and the other is a state school with a $50 fee. The state school will have many more applicants, resulting in a lower acceptance rate, but it says nothing of the quality of the institution, comparatively.

So what you're saying is, if you're going to major in engineering, you need to go to Mississippi State because Mississippi State is the best engineering university in the SEC.

They're a big school and school is money, Auburn. Let's not consider all the country's best academic kids who come here. They sure as hell don't choose a shitty village on the cow turd filled plains.

Here's a percentage. I'd let 16.66% of the girls in that picture suck my penis.

Ole Miss acceptance rate is 81%. If you can say Hotty Totty 3 times in a row--Your In.

MSU President Mark E. Keenum said the university’s record 2015 enrollment numbers were achieved without sacrificing academic excellence, noting that the university maintained an average first-time freshman ACT score of 24.

The incoming freshman class increased to 3,969 students this fall, up 4.2 percent from last fall’s 3,809. The group posted an average ACT score of 24.7, besting last year’s average of 24.3 and setting a new UM record. Among Mississippi students, this year’s average was 24.4, up from last fall’s 24.0.
Ole Miss is larger, its students score higher, and its athletics teams are better than Mississippi State's. Also you incorrectly used the possessive "Your" instead of the contraction "You're" in academic smack you dumb hillbilly.

Are you really arguing that LSU is a better school than Tulane?
LSU better than Tulane? In some areas probably, in other areas probably not.
Is Tulane significantly better than LSU top to bottom? LOL no. Tulane took a massive hit post-katrina.
It's not even debatable that LSU is the better value. Tulane MAY be a little bit better than LSU. Tulane is 4 or 5 times more expensive than LSU.
And the girls are ugly.

Well, my school tops the list for New Jersey!
I don't know the criteria use for "best" school, but I would disagree with Illinois and Massachusetts, which should be Northwestern over U Chicago, and Harvard over MIT, IMO.

Isn't Hendrix the best school in this state? They used to tout that all the time.

Most people with good grades in HS get a scholarship to go to Tulane. Very few people pay sticker price.
I would NEVER have gone to Tulane if I didn't have a scholarship slash the tuition in half.
Tulane is horrifically overpriced. It's worth it however if you are paying 50% or less of the listed price.
