Those wins were impressive still, and I believe there is good cause for the Arky hype just like there is for the UT hype. I wasn't blown away by either OM or LSU coming into the game though. I doubt I would have been convinced had you not kicked the crap out of them the way you did. Then again, using only that logic, I wouldn't be convinced of UT either (of course I know lots of other things that convince me instead.) Still I can't deny that there's a degree of homerism in how I look at UT vs how I look at other teams. Using only the info OP provided (and assuming he is a fan of neither team), I can see how he drew his conclusion, although I disagree with it. Oh well.

FWIW I think Arky goes 8-4 or 9-3 with a great chance to win in Neyland.

Last year we replaced our entire offensive line, played the most freshman in the country and showed improvement throughout the season. The Mizzou game was disappointing but both North and Smith were out on offense and the D was gassed. Had Dobbs been named the starter and had taken 1st team reps all Spring/Fall we would've actually been in the OU game (probably still lose) but we beat UGA and UF and Mizz. The West is wide open and we just added a shite-load of talent in a very short amount of time.

But I can see how, as an apposing fan, these ideas seem far fetched but the East is weak and we gon be alright. That being said I wouldn't be surprised with an 8-4 or 10-2 season. And I think the Arky game may very well be one of those losses in either scenario.

Lol. You know you don't even believe that. Arkansas beat Arkansas that game. You know it. I know it.

or how about that vaunted Kentucky squad

We played UT at the end of 8 straight (7 SEC) games without a bye week, lost our starting QB after the 1st drive of the game (where he rushed for 27 yards and was 4/6 43 yards) and didn't get him back (even with a high ankle sprain) until after halftime.

What I'm saying here is that UK didn't play a good game at all against UT, after the opening drive with a healthy QB. UT won by like 40 points. I'm not sure using the Kentucky game is a good strategy in the argument.

Amari Cooper didn't exist in the Arkansas game last year. True Frosh. Held him to 2 catches.

Tennessee is gonna have to have a stellar year on the defensive side. Honestly they need to at least play to their talent level.

To be honest, I think our defense will be a little better than our offense. I think a lot is riding on our oline continuing to progress, and keeping Dobbs and our two RB's healthy. If we can do that, watch out.

All of this. Looks like even with all of the preseason media hype, the Vols will still take some people by surprise. That will most likely change after Ws over OU and UF

he was saying arkansas's wins we're against teams playing bad, I was saying the same for thier opponents, the fact you lost your qb only strengthens my arguement.

I disagree. I think the offense will be better than your defense. Other than the Mizzou and Vandy games, the offense was much improved once Dobbs took over. Mizzou had a great D-line and I will give you one bad game against Vandy. Not bagging the D, just saying the O will be better imo.

Oh for the love of Pete. This thread? Again?

Damn people. I'm depressed now.

Look, both the Vols and the Hogs have reason to be optimistic going into this season. We aren't like... say... Alabama who must hear the sounds of Urban Meyer grunting away as their defense gives up yet another 50 rushing yards.

Both teams could be a lot better this year and still not win more games. It is the nature of the SEC. You can be really solid and not win big.

We get it kiddies. The media is on UT's dick and you can't stand it.

Grow up.
