Both teams are being hyped as being potential winners of their respective divisions, but only Arkansas deserves the hype.
Tennessee fans keep heralding Josh Dobbs as the savior of and say "hey look at last November when he tore people apart". Well, let's analyze: Beat a dysfunctional South Carolina team. Beat two crap Vandy/Kentucky team. And lost their only legit opponent, Mizzou. Nothing impressive.

Now Arky: Beat LSU, beat the hell out of Ole Miss. Damn near beat Bama/ Miss State, and only lost be a touchdown to A&M.
Josh Dobbs isn't fixing a Tenn offensive line that couldn't block some 5-A Texas High School teams, and Arkansas has proven they can compete or at-least ruin multiple seasons.

Tennessee returns 4 starters to the offensive line as well as adding a pretty sought after recruit that I believe everyone in the country wanted. Not only that, but we have added Kamara in the backfield with Hurd. All of our receivers are healthy with North having just received a first round grade from NFL scouts. Not to mention we probably have the best defensive trio in the SEC East in Barnett, Maggit, and Sutton. Add in incoming freshmen Phillips and Mackenzie, and it wouldn't surprise me to see that D rank in the top 2-3 in the SEC. UT may be slightly overhyped, but to say it is completely undeserving is about as asinine and uneducated as you can be.

I think the big difference is the East is wide open and the west is going to be a bloodbath

LSU and Ole Miss were not playing well when they ran into Arkansas which had just hit their stride... You can't say before the year whether or not hype is substantiated solely based off of the quality of a few wins the previous season.

Also, in response to the Dobbs comment, he tore up the Bama defense. Far cry from SC, UK, etc. We win that game if Amari Cooper didn't exist.

The good thing is we'll have the chance to cut out all the bs speculation and comparison when they meet on the field this year.

Returning 4 horrible offensive linemen would help if they weren't as horrendously untalented as they. Now you have 4 talentless offensive linemen with experience, and a freshman who's never played a down. Best of luck having Jalen Hurd/Kamara being able to run, or Josh Dobbs being able to get the ball to a receiver.

And that's impressive considering the hard work put in by Serraneaux and Phat Phil.

Just cause you people say this all the time doesn't make it true. Ole Miss had only lost 1 or 2 games at that point, but the weren't playing well. LOL. LSU is always tough. The Hogs beat their arse. That's all there is to it. You can make excuses as to why it happened all you want.

so was vandy playing at thier highest level when tenn beat them? or how about that vaunted Kentucky squad. oh surely that SC team was just playing thier best that day as well? how about you give credit where credit is due instead of looking for excuses.

That didn't stop Dobbs from throwing for 1,200 yds in 5.5 games and Hurd from rushing for 900 last year. But I forgot that most people don't improve from year to year so you're probably correct

Arky has proved nothing. Neither has Tenn.

Arky had to pull out the trick plays to even be in the game v. A&M and Bama. LSU's pedestrian, one-dimentional offense lost that game, and Ole Miss was nowhere near deserving of the hype last year.

I could point out the same things re Tenn.

Re A&M too, in case you think I am bias.

Arkansas has won a grand total of 4 SEC games since the beginning of 2012...

Can we just agree that both teams are on the rise..?

that has nothing to do with this year. what if we win 5 this year? will the narrative be oh well they have only won 7 in the last 2 years?

I'm simply saying that both teams are pretty undeserving of it.

Why people care so much about this stuff, I will never understand.

Arkansas:

Great offensive line? Check.
5th year senior QB with 2 seasons of starting experience under his belt? Check.
At least 2 future NFL running backs? Check.
One of the top TE's in the country? Check.
Playmakers at WR? Check.
Schedule sets up well? Check (it's tough, but as far as how it's setup it's perfect).
Defense good enough to keep team in every game? Check.
Team is hungry? Bert.

What trick plays did we run against Bama?
