This AP list is a joke. We've won twice as many AP titles as Ohio Skate, and we have more AP titles than anyone else.

Real #1

List is shite, them only counting 2 for LSU. God dammit 2003

LSU received 16 points for 2003. They appeared in each of the 15 weeks plus the Final poll.

I'm not melting over not being #1, I'm melting over the methodology. Consistency is important, but more weight for weeks as #1 than finishing #1?

2004 is the perfect example of the absurdity of the formula. USC was ranked #1 for 14 weeks and Oklahoma was ranked #2 for 14 weeks. Had Oklahoma won the BCSNCG (and the AP Poll) they would have received 25 points. USC would have received 29 points!

It shouldn't be a surprise that an AP list is based on AP rankings. It is an accurate list of teams with the most success/consistency at BEING RANKED.

I would rather my team be the national champions from 1992 (10 points) than be ranked #1 for 9 weekly polls and then get their arse kicked and finish third (18 points).

Agree 100%. There was a thread on the MSB last week askign would you rather have titles and then mediocrity or no titles but consistent good seasons. I'm all about winning titles. If you could tell me today, OSU would win 3 national titles in the next 5 years, and go 0-24 the other 2 years, I'd be fine with that

Oklahoma is hardly the most overrated team of all time. Georgia moreso fits the description. Only 1 national title? Terrible!

I seem to remember West Virginia spanking Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.

OU may have several BCS losses, but they also have won their fair share, plus other meaningful games.

1 Orange Bowl, 1 Rose Bowl, 1 Fiesta Bowl, 1 Sugar Bowl, 1 Cotton Bowl; 7-1 Big XII CCG record.

Georgia's 2 Sugar Bowl wins in the BCS era were nothing special; defeating a 5 loss FSU and a happy to be there Hawaii who got rewarded just because they were undefeated.

Sit down Georgia. When you have more national titles than Minnesota, then you can talk.

Auburn was better than both of these teams that year.

I think UF is 9 spaces too low.

And that FSU is 117 spaces too high.

Ohio State's only had 3 seasons where they've been unranked all year? That's pretty amazing.

The usual suspects for sure. Agree with poster who said this poll is about rankings ONLY. It does paint same picture as most other historical rankings or measures. You can come up with the same top 5 using other measures. The order is the only thing that'd change.

Surprised to see that Alabama didn't have more weeks at #1 with Bryant.

OU has many top 3 and 5 finishes historically. The "overrated" thing I don't really get from the UGA poster. The only championship game that OU was embarrassed in was USC. Against a team that had it
s title stripped for various violations.

The LSU game in 2003 was a a one score game. OU was coming back and dropped not one but two touchdown passes to tie game. LSU deserved to win but it was close. If that game goes on for 5 more minutes it may have ended differently. Oh well..

The UF game with Tebow and Bradford was close too. OU failed to score inside 5 yd line twice and lost by 10.

OU has played in many big games and like everyone we've lost some and won some. But overrated I don't see it. The team with Bradford was one of college football's most prolific offenses ever..they deserved to be there.

In 2003 the AP voted for USC to splinter the title. That would have happened for LSU or OU if either of them had been left out of BCS title game.

You can fairly say that OU lost two title games v SEC like Finebam does on tv, but to say we were overrated is a bit of an uneducated statement.

Intellectual honesty. You will struggle here. But on behalf of the handful of us who strive for that, welcome.
