Yes it is an animal. An animal that is cherished not by just Louisiana State University, but cherished by many around the nation. Myself being one. So take your dumbass comments to another board or refrain yourself from posting at all. Or do us all a favor and learn to have some respect whether one of our rival's mascot passes away or not.

So we shouldn't send flowers for any funeral now?

The flowers sent to a funeral are usually done in a way to show respect, sympathy, and care to the family that remains, as well as add something of color to the environment of a funeral, which is often dark.

There is certainly no harm in anyone expressing respect, sympathy, and care toward LSU fans as they are in a time of mourning. There is a certain amount of class shown in doing so.

However, those without experience with live mascots (but who likely have experience with pets they had an actual PERSONAL relationship with) shouldn't be blasted for not understanding the perspective of LSU fans in this instance. Many of you likely never had any real interaction with Mike beyond seeing him - from afar - at games. Those fans that are giving you a hard time over this are likely doing so because of the perception that LSU fans play the victim card often and they see you as playing up this loss as being personal to you, which it likely isn't', in an effort for attention and sympathy.

thanks

I will remember you for that - we Louisiana / Mississippi are connected and we have much in common. The contractor re-building my flooded home brought his company into BR for all this work. What a great young man and he is a Ole Miss fan. Mike is part of Lsu and we love going by the stadium year round to visit Mike and give a Geaux Tigers to keep that spirit going.

Mike had a good life with much loving care and we loved him even being the first Mike that hated Saturday night in the Stadium !

I hate to say it but most posters on the SEC rant don't get it and it might be a age thing. I enjoy greeting various visitor's to Death Valley and finding out about where they are coming in from. Tradition and being civil is a southern thing but it does seem in this new net world much of what we were is not reflected well in what we are becoming.

You should post on here when your pet hamster dies. Maybe make photoshopped picture of it. We'll all gladly send our condolences.

Why would I take my comment to another board? My comment without context would make no sense. It was meant for this post.

If an LSU or MSU or any SEC coach or player or staff member dies, I'll show some respect.

Prayers to you and your family . I know it's been a tough road ever since the flooding.

Many people do not get it, but just one visit to Mike's cage will turn your perspective on the live mascot. I've been multiple times and it's a sight to see. It's like Mike isn't owned by LSU, but all of the LSU fans in general and for those who visit his exhibit. It's really a neat experience and I feel for the LSU fan base because it really is like losing a pet.

You just don't get it and that's okay. Just think that trolling this particular thread isn't a good look and it makes our fan base look like a bunch of bigots. I guess every fan base has at least one. Just show some respect is all.

Oh, and I don't have a hamster so the photoshopped picture is probably not going to happen. Nice try though!
