I think the tater that broke it brought it back. They got some Elmers (glue made from cows) and patched the best a bunch of taters could. They posted a picture of the culprit and this appears to be what he looks like.

TAMU did not "join" the SWC. It was a founding member.

If you say so. After 100 years with a gay animal with no nuts TAMU is suffering from Stockholm Syndrome. Hostage is more like the truth and founding member is more like the rationalization. Good thing LSU and Ole Miss turned them down flat back then. Both are better for it. Hogs still have PTSD and it has been a generation since they got their freedom from that nonsense.

Just be glad you are now among friends who may kick you arse but will be decent enough to buy a beer afterwards.

When Bulldogs get along with Rebels &/or Brown Bears, everyone thinks it is just hunky-dory. When Aggies and Longhorns manage to be civil to one another, we start hearing about Stockholm Syndrome.

Bizarre.

It is all just a facade leading up to the Egg Bowl. Just wait till that game week and this place will be a zoo. Like the Japanese, the south is polite when they say FU.

When the little old southern lady hands you a fresh sweet tea and says "bless your heart" it is not a compliment.

Did anyone expect A&M to just show up and be a legitimate threat in the SEC? Maybe the Aggie fans did but those that have been around long enough to know SEC football sure didn't. Three years in and they have one... ONE... signature SEC win. So much for them making an instant impact on the conference.

But I will give them their due. The Aggies were the only school willing to stand up to Texas in the Big 12. THE ONLY SCHOOL. Told them to take their bulldog tactics and shove it. And for that, I say kudos and welcome to the SEC. The Aggies will get better as they can use the SEC as their selling point for recruiting, which has already worked wonders for them. I have faith that they will be right in the mix sooner rather than later.

Agree completely. Upvote.

Well, it depends how we define success, I suppose. First, we need to keep in mind this is the 3rd season TAMU is an SEC team. With only 2 full football seasons under our belt.

So let's see. Some of the challenges in changing leagues is the SEC is a LOS league. We are still working to build depth on the D-line especially. So that takes time. Then we walk in to the SEC West, easily the best division in CF and one that has gone to the national title game the 2 years TAMU was part of the SEC.

In those 2 years, TAMU has I think done better than most predicted in the SEC:
-Heisman winner
-top 5 finish
-ranked virtually the entire time as part of the SEC (until this friggin' week)
-2nd most watched team in CF last year, behind Bama.
-won 2 bowl games

If anyone had written the above in the summer of 2012 they would have been laughed out of tRant.

Do we still have a lot of work to do? Yes. Did we come in and simply get bent over, as most of you predicted? Not even close (though we are doing a good job of that this year).

-won 2 bowl games [This is the only tangible accomplishment.]

Meh, except for the playoffs bowl game pairing is a popularity contest.

You do realize that there hasn't been any playoff games yet, right?

That was the only thing on the list that involved actually winning a football game.

Meh, the BCS was basically a two team playoff.

Still, if A&M had stayed in the Big 12 for the 2012 season, I'm convinced they run the table undefeated and play Bama (who they beat on the road that year) for the national title. No way I see Johnny losing that game.

You clearly don't understand why Mike Sherman was fired.

The primary reason that Mike Sherman was fired was not losing to Texas, blowing 6 multiple-score 2nd half leads (and losing 5 of those), or taking a preseason top 10 team and going 6-6.

The reason Mike Sherman was fired was that he not only publicly disagreed with the move to the SEC, but he ACTIVELY SPOKE OUT AGAINST IT AFTER IT HAD ALREADY BEEN MADE...the same reason that Bill Byrne was fired.

A person wearing a tinfoil hat could almost make the argument that Sherman deliberately had his teams fold in the second half almost DARING the administration to fire him.

Mike Sherman and his coordinators almost made it a point to choose seniority over ability when it came to players. Examples:

Waiting until his job was in jeopardy to replace Jerrod Johnson with Ryan Tannehill in 2010.

Waiting until Evan Eike was hurt to start Jake Matthews.

Sticking with Trent Hunter at safety

Starting Caleb Russell over Damontre Moore (really? WTF)

Sticking with senior Garrick Williams at Inside Linebacker until Arkansas exposed him so badly he had no choice but to replace him.

Slocum never won 2 consecutive bowls. Franchione never won a bowl. Sherman never won a bowl.

Sumlin is the first coach at A&M to win 2 consecutive bowls since Jackie.
