Spreads coming fools. Only those teams that have access to elite top level defensive talent will compete.
I don't think they are going to place a lot of stock in a team after only 1 season. They'll probably look more at teams like Oregon or Stanford before Texas A&M. Those are teams who have had multiple years of success, something A&M wouldn't know much about in recent years.
