Well....

A) these agreements are made well in advance. Many of these were probably made when they were still Bevo XII

B) many are in-state. A public institution keeping revenues in-state.... hmmmm, I've seen plenty of arguments for doing just this from several fanbases. Including my own fanbase of LSU (or a portion of it); many would rather play Tech or McNeese than have Kent or Towson come in.

C) The SEC sets some of these "cupcakes" based on geography (e.g. Ga Southern, UAB) as part of the SEC's support of the region. Both Mizzou and TAMU will get transitioned to that. Much might not change for TAMU, the SEC wants it's footprint all over TX as much as possible. Hence, TAMU will continue to play the likes of Rice.

In the end, because of equal distribution of revenues means (C) benefits all schools in the SEC.

Lamar is FCS new blood. So right now, they are the equivalent of a Division 2 team. They aren't as bad as Georgia State though

Lol they are terrible. At least Georgia state has some tradition. Lamar os a brand new football program. They play in the southland conference and have won only four Conf games, 3 against nichols state I believe in 3 years of conference play.

Not much different than LSU. Sure LSU has Wisconsin but you only play the Gators and Kentucky from the East. TAMU has Mizzou and the Cocks. Seems about equal to me.

But don't let that stop you guys from bitching. We know how much you love to schedule bitch.

Are you joking, Georgia State was the laughing stocking of FCS football. They got there butts kicked multiple times in the last 4 years by Division 2 and non-scholarship FCS teams. In the CAA, the only win they ever had was over a Lower Scholarship Rhode Island team. Georgia State is was a dumpster fire from the beginning. 0-12 also while transitioning to full fbs status.

Lamar had a football program before, it ended around 1987. They brought it back and they are horrible. About 1500 people show up for games, stands are completely empty. Went and watched them play one game this year. Aggies should hang 70 or more on them. I understand playing an in State school. Aggies will pay them a ton of $$$$, it's basically Lamar's budget for the year.

So, effectively University of Texas still controls A&M's OOC schedule by dictating who A&M is and isn't allowed to play? Sounds like UT is still A&M's Daddy too - so sad.

Good gosh almighty. I know you're trolling, but this was pathetic. If Baylor and TCU won't agree to a game, that makes Texas the Aggies' daddy? Really?

Personally I think there's enough bad blood with Baylor to nix that game for a long time, maybe longer than Texas. TCU... not so much. But honestly I don't see them as significantly better than Rice right now. Tech's KK has already said he'd be agreeable (with the proviso that JFF had moved on). That's good, I guess. I just hate to condemn Aggies to attending a game in Lubbock.

For the others: Rice is better than a lot of people here want to acknowledge, and SMU HAS been but had a bad year.

If as the prior A&M poster said, UT controls A&M's OOC schedule yet A&M has zero control over UT's anything - then yes, really. My point is NOT that the Aggie's OCC schedule is controlled by UT. But that was from the prior A&M poster which I'm ridiculing. If you think it sounds like BS too, take it up with the prior A&M poster who said so - not me.

No I said they can't afford to piss UT off and will do what they are told to do. Your reading comprehension really sucks.

Everyone laughed last year as well and we ended with the #6 toughest schedule when all was said and done per the NCAA. You never know.

I'm not sure Texas is that powerful, but there's no doubt they're swinging their big dick around trying to knock others into line. But if Baylor or TCU wanted to play A&M, I think it would happen. Baylor not so much, but that has a lot more to do with Baylor than Texas, in my opinion. And what about Tech? I actually hate the thought of sending A&M students to Lubbock again, but at least Tech has the gumption to ignore whatever Texas is telling them, and KK has already said he wants that game. I think we'll be playing Tech sooner rather than later. TCU, too. Honestly I think we'll play Texas again sooner than we will Baylor because of our favorite prosecutor. None of that has anything to do with Texas.

I agree in part to what you said. I don't know that we ever play Baylor again or at least not for a long time. We will play Tech and Texas again. Tech before Texas though but who knows. I want the Texas game back. I was just going to the ridiculous extremes that seem to be the norm here. Although I do think Texas has pressured the B12 teams to avoid us. But it's all good and eventually we will get better OOC games.

The one thing... OK, one of two things, I can't figure is why A&M would agree to play SMU in Dallas. Unless I misunderstand the split, SMU would be better off playing in College Station, too. And it's not like they have a home field advantage, so why do this?

#2. Lamar. There's just no excuse for that. I refuse to believe A&M couldn't find a better opponent. Even one they were guaranteed to beat. What does beating Lamar by 50 get you? Note that I'm not letting Georgia Southern opponents off. But I'd like to see A&M get better opponents.

If you want to see the mother of all tough schedules refer to LSU 2011.
