AJ McCarron has been listed a lot, but he beat the shite out of people for 3 years and won 2 National Championships and is currently in the NFL.

He lost a total of 4 games in 3 years and set all kinds of Bama passing records.

Is currently a back up in the NFL. His team was great around him. Blake Sims was better overall.

Well to be fair, Andre Woodson apparently made the first page despite breaking Trent Dilfer's NCAA record of 271 consecutive passes without an INT and breaking Danny Wuerffel's record for SEC passing TDs in a season. I think people may need to re-evaluate their definition of terrible or mediocre.

Jordan Jefferson immediately comes to mind.

Which would make him a lot better than mediocre, right?

I guess that's a relative word.

This conference is so fricked if we ever get an above average QB.
I should go into further detail.

2011 AJ McCarron was mediocre, Blake Sims was nothing special.

What is he, 3rd or 4th string?

By himself? He had some pretty great players around him and he played on some great teams. He was nothing more than mediocre in 2011 (as I mentioned in my post), improved a ton in 2012, and then took a small step back in 2013, IMO.

I don't think he's terrible or mediocre, but yeah, that Auburn defense made him look like an all-time great.

Pathetic, really.

STAHHP. Heisman runner up and won the Maxwell and Unitas award. You may not like AJ but to list him as Terrible/Mediocre is ignorant.

AJ McCarron wasn't even a back-up in 2014, and he was definitely mediocre in 2011.

Injured shoulder.

Oh, man. Imagine a sophomore being mediocre.

As a whole, he was much better than "mediocre".

So, you agree? Besides, he wouldn't have played in front of Jason Campbell anyways.

Garcia threw 3 touchdowns in that game and that one touchdown def in the 4th is misleading

To say that AJ McCarron was a mediocre QB that shouldn't have beaten your team is just plain silly. Those were the parameters for this thread, and I've seen multiple people include him on their lists. Silly, silly, silly.

Auburn lost to Alabama in 2011, while AJ McCarron was a mediocre quarterback. Period. That is why I listed him, and that was explained in my post.

For a first year starter with your best receivers being Darius Hanks, Marquiz Maze, and Brad Smelley, I'd say AJ did at least above mediocre. Guy did everything you could ask him too for a first year starter. 16-5 TD-INT ratio, had a 64% completion percentage and a 8-1 TD-INT ratio on 3rd down, completed 66% of his passes, and had a 147 QBR.
