I know someone that happen to husband and mother. But yeah, I agree with you. I think there were multiple motives.

I said this last night, but somewhere Cecil Newton is laughing his arse off. He just tried to get paid, but he never helped Cam kill his fake gf.

In any case he hammed up his several month twitter relationship with a deceased girl into a 3 year love affair from CA, to HI, and IN.

Also perpetuated the falseness to the media even after ND claims he discovered the hoax,.

100% chance he "lost" the phone with the alleged call from her in December.

I seriously believe that in the end, this is going to be a story @ a guy who is gay, and had to make this shite up to hide his true sexual orientation from teammates etc.

Ding-ding-ding, we have a winner! Gay, Mormon football players at Catholic schools probably don't have the best experiences.

When he was just a good linebacker the story was manageable. With added attention this season, he decided killing her off was for the best - he didn't want media going looking for her. Then it became the feel-good story of the year and he was stuck. So he went with it, and used the "death" to his advantage.

Now it's blown up in his face. I hope he doesn't do anything stupid, like try to hurt himself. Meaning - if he was messed up enough to pull this off in the first place, you have to question his psychological stability.

lol wut. Why would the media go looking for her if he just "broke up" with her.

What could he be charged with? In theory, I guess Lance Armstrong could be charged with fraud or larceny - he obviously profited from his dishonesty. But what could Te'o be charged with?

Think about it, her supposed twitter account had thousands of followers. Would have been odd if she simply fell off the face of the earth once they broke up. He would have had to keep answering tweets to keep it legitimate. Lot easier to say she's dead, family wants to be private etc.

Ex-girlfriends are tabloid fodder. Someone gets famous, and their exes are hunted down for dirt by the National Enquirer or Star. I"m not saying it was the best decision, but I also don't think rational people make up stories like this.

Not sure why anyone would asks many questions if he broke up with her and then her twitter account went inactive. It wouldn't be the first damn time a girl de-activated her twitter account after a breakup.

But yeah, this is all hypothetical about a messed up situation. The whole damn thing makes no sense, so I'll stop trying to make sense of it

Lots easier not to make up a lie to begin with. Wonder how pissed those 7 awards committees are now that gave him all those.

Probably for the best!

And yes, I'm sure the awards committees are pissed right now. But if the awards are based on his on-field performance, and he didn't violate NCAA rules, they may be stuck.

I think its safe to say, the dead gf was a large part of why they went with him. There were better LBers and defensive players than him this year.

Points?! Armed robbers, rapists, and druggies are a dime a dozen. This is something special and unique.

I think it is worth some kind of special lifetime achievement award.

The Manti Teo Award - given to the school with the biggest off season scandal that doesn't involve crime.
