I called Butch the other day just to tell him I don't know how he did it this year with all the adversity he had to face

I really want to know how in the hell Kyle Shurmur threw for over 200 in any game...

I like vandy, I really do. But it looks like he couldn't hit water in the middle of the ocean most of the time.

Hell, he went something like 8-23 passing against us for like 70 yards.

Honestly? His WRs were playing out of their minds against a defense that had already broken records for awfulness. When we lost Shy Tuttle in the USC game it was the straw that broke the camel's back. There was simply nothing left and the stats show it. If you look at our last three games you'll understand completely how Shurmur came to look like Manning.

I'm genuinely terrified of our bowl game because I know those players are still injured and that our strategy for the latter half of the season was to hope like hell we could run a wide open B12 style offense and outscore the opponent because the players we have right now quite simply can't stop grandma from getting into the endzone.

It fricking sucks but we're going to have to rely completely on offense to have a chance of winning anything.

The entire defense failed just as it had failed in the prior two games. Vandy could've been any team -- who we played mattered not. Go and look at what they were giving up the past three or so games - EVERY GAME. Defense far more than offense has to work as a unit in order to function. You have no DTs, bad LBs, beat up safetys, and one good corner who is coming off of injury and they played like it.

This sounds like mitigation for Coach Jones. So maybe this game was not such a sure thing after all?

Of course -our- offense was shut down by Vandy.

Yes, yes. The Vandy wing of my family ostentatiiously bought each other these shell vests that Coach Mason favors and tried them on at our joyous Christmas celebration.

Then they all drove to Shreveport.
