It's the week before our first SEC game of the season, we are allowed to be excited and optimistic.

Can't blame you for it, either. Butch has you headed in the right direction. You have a talented young team and will only get better.

You shouldn't. As stated above, you have plenty to be excited about. But let's wait for a week or two, k?

Gurley averaged just over 5 yards per carry. Marshall averaged just over 16 yards per carry.

And neither of your running backs are averaging 4.5 yards a carry. Your team YPC is 3.3. Wouldn't you like to have somebody that averages 5.0 and 16.0 YPC?

In contrast our top two running backs are averaging 9.8 and 10.3 YPC against defenses that are stacking the line. Our team YPC is 7.7.

If you actually read the thread...I was saying that Marshall was a bigger weapon against UT than Gurley in 2012. Read a little and learn what "context" means...

I understood exactly what you were saying. However, when our lessor weapon was averaging better than your top two running backs......see my point?

Yeah I don't think any decent fan is hoping for the carnage on the injury report y'all had last year.

Hope we win, but also hope both UGA and UT stays healthy.

This is what I said last night about this game:

quote:

It could certainly happen, but that would require them shutting down our front 7. Through 3 games they're tied for last in sacks allowed and they are 13th in rushing offense - that includes games against Arky St and Utah St at home. Their other option is for us to turn the ball over. But we've turned it over the least in the conference and UT is middle of the road when it comes to creating TOs.

To add to that some, I just found out this morning that 3 of UT's TOs they have generated come from special teams - not the defense.

Tennessee really does need to be more actively seeking TO's I agree with that.

We need to be +2 in that stat on Saturday for a true chance to win the game.

We also need to play great in kick coverage (Gurley and McKenzie are no joke). Watch out for us to come after some more of your punts after last years success.

Same here, man. If either teams wants to continue to improve we both need to stay healthy.

I for one think it will be a good, close game. I HOPE we pull away and win big, but I am not counting on it.

I honestly don't believe any true fans wish players from the other team injury. Injuries just happen sometime. I've seen players take hits that looked like the player would be going to the hospital, and they jump up and trot off the field or back to the huddle. I've also seen seemingly mundane hits and the player tears an ACL or something. Sometimes injuries happen.

We put that pussy gurley on the sideline again this year and we win 34-30
Hahaha Gurley didn't even play, Marshall went out quickly in that game, and we still won in Knoxville in UT's superbowl.

Your team is young and relatively inexperienced for the SEC. They will get their feet under them soon and then the take aways will come. Talent is good...but give that talent some experience and look out.

Vols won 9 in a row, but since then UGA has won 10 of 14...that is crazy to think about.

I believe overall series is at 22-21-2 TN...always been a good game.

I'd say it is a rivalry for sure...just probably 3rd or 4th for both teams.

Yes...and, obviously, you missed mine. I never said that Gurley wasn't very successful against UT in that game. I said that Marshall had a better night overall than Gurley. It was a relative comparison of the performance of each. I don't know where you thought I was saying anything negative about either. The fact is...one averaged over 5 yards per carry and the other averaged over 15. Both were having a very good night...just one was having an even better night than the other.
