QB - Tenn: Although I'm not impressed with Dobbs, I will give Tenn the edge anyways. He can make plays with his feet, but so can Jake as we have seen. The problem I have with Dobbs is his disappearing act during big games. He was highly touted coming into the season and to me he really hasn't live up to the expectations, but if Tennessee wins it will be because of Dobbs.

RB - Tenn: Jalen Hurd is one of the most underrated backs in the league. The reason is, the league has so many good backs and in my opinion Jalen is top 3, now. Henry is great, but we have all seen his limitations. The reason Tennessee's backfield is better really isn't a Hurd vs Henry debate, it is because Kamara gives Tenn the edge. We all see that Drake just isn't cutting it. Really wish Nick would have worked Bo in more against Arky and Aggy.

WR - Bama: The young talented freshman Williams is coming on nicely, but they don't have a solid go to receiver. Dobbs spreads it around enough and seems to favor Wolf the most. Bama on the other hand has two solid, clutch guys in Ridley and Mullaney. Surprisingly, Howard has more yards than Slotty Pip. Bama gets the edge because Ridley is a difference maker.

Oline - Bama: Neither o-line is nothing to right home about, but at least Bama has a solid starting 5. With Kelley in the game Bama seems to run the ball a lot better and it showed Saturday. On the other hand, Tenn has a revolving door it seems at every other position on the line. Bama's veteran leadership wins here.

Dline - Bama: Gets to the qb, stuffs the run and has a rotation like a revolving door. Plug em and play em is what is working with this group. Tenn has a few young guys on the d-line, but they are thin and can't keep up with Bama

LB - Bama: Paging Reggie Ragland! While you are at it bring Foster, Williams and Evans. Bama has had the best MLB in the league for years now and the tradition continues. Tenn is thin here too and from what I've been reading, that soulless ginger Jumper is bigger liability than Roger Clinton was to Bill.

Secondary - Bama: With that front seven, Bama's secondary looks to be the class of the SEC. With league best 12 picks, 4 returned for tds, Bama has shored up its biggest liability the past two years.....it seems. Fitz, C.J., Hump, Harrison and Eddie have all shined this year and seem to be getting better with each game.

ST - Tenn: Bama's suck

Coaching - Bama: Butch just hasn't figured it out. He looked like he has gotten over the hump, but a big loss this week could set him back big time.

Even though Bama sucks at home, Saban is just going to make Tenn beat him throwing which I don't think they can do. Run Henry and Bo and tire out the Vol's d in the fourth. Don't turn it over and this one will be fine.

Pretty accurate, imo.

Dobbs can play like Superman when we open up the offense and play aggressive, or he can play like Jeremy Johnson if we're playing conservative and he can't get in a rhythm.

solid post.

I think Kamara could have a big game, and I am sure he will be playing with somewhat of a chip on his shoulder.

I think Butch tries to get him and Hurd in space with quick passes, move the pocket and get the defense off balance. The problem is that lbs can close the gap so fast, Foster especially. That dude has had a really solid season so far and it is going kind of unnoticed

Oh make no mistake, I think Alabama wins this game. I think that UT could make it interesting, but Bama will probably just be too much. shite, I'll be there so I hope it is interesting to some extent.

What are the reasons Bo Scar is not being used?

I honestly don't know. With Drake being gimpy now, we need another back and Harris hasn't looked so good thus far.

There must be an issue somewhere. Maybe pass protect, ball secure or attitude. I've heard no negs on him but there must be something. He can't RS this season so I just don't know.

Kamara

Drake

Their stats really aren't that much different besides Kamara having 4 more TDs. Sure, TDs are kind of important, but the difference between the two isn't great enough(and Henry is significantly better than Hurd) for me to say that UT has the edge at RB.

Henry's stats vs. Hurd's stats just to support my argument that Henry is significantly better:

Henry

Hurd

Pretty good analysis...but I have a couple of notes to add.
quote:

QB - Tenn: Although I'm not impressed with Dobbs, I will give Tenn the edge anyways. He can make plays with his feet, but so can Jake as we have seen. The problem I have with Dobbs is his disappearing act during big games. He was highly touted coming into the season and to me he really hasn't live up to the expectations, but if Tennessee wins it will be because of Dobbs.

Dobbs is the epitome of the Jeckyl/Hyde QB. He runs all over Florida, but has trouble hitting the ground with the ball. He can't throw or run against Arkansas...then he runs all over Georgia and gets bailed out by his WRs.

quote:

LB - Bama: Paging Reggie Ragland! While you are at it bring Foster, Williams and Evans. Bama has had the best MLB in the league for years now and the tradition continues. Tenn is thin here too and from what I've been reading, that soulless ginger Jumper is bigger liability than Roger Clinton was to Bill.

Jumper is a huge liability...but unless there is an injury, I wouldn't expect to see him much on Saturday. Kirkland will be starting at MLB.

quote:

WR - Bama: The young talented freshman Williams is coming on nicely, but they don't have a solid go to receiver. Dobbs spreads it around enough and seems to favor Wolf the most. Bama on the other hand has two solid, clutch guys in Ridley and Mullaney. Surprisingly, Howard has more yards than Slotty Pip. Bama gets the edge because Ridley is a difference maker.

Tennessee's WRs have had two issues...injury, and not getting catchable balls. I believe that most of UT's WR issues stem from Dobbs' delivery of the ball. If Von Pearson hadn't fallen down on the 4th down play against Georgia, there is no way he could have caught the ball. It literally would have hit him in the shoelaces.

I meant to add the point of Butch's play calling also causes Dobbs to disappear

The only way we win this game is if Bama plays sloppy. Kiffin should give the ball to Henry 30 times and he'll run for over 200 yards. We are not good against the run or hell passing for that matter. Bama's defense has trouble with mobile qb's that CAN THROW. Dobbs has no downfield accuracy at all and Bama will dare us to run the ball. I think Bama will win by a minimum of two touchdowns.

I think Bama has improved with this. Allen is a mobile qb and we contained him fine.

These analyses are really pointless when you compare two position units that won't be on the field facing each other. Sure, Dobbs is probably a more dangerous QB than Coker because of his running ability, but how does he fare against the Bama defense, versus how Coker will do against a porous UT defense?

Just a pet peeve of mine.
