I did predict that last year, as most of us did. Not Phil and Serreneaux obviously. Barring catastrophe, I have much higher expectations for the team this season.

I really don't understand the hype around Tennessee...they beat a bad UGA team missing its best player (due to their shite field) and Northwestern. Who else did they beat last year?

Moral victories are highly praised in Knoxville. See, losing to teams by less than 10 points will get you a $500,000 raise at Tennessee and a contract through 2020. All this despite being a combined 3-12 vs ranked opponents and 1-8 vs Florida, Alabama, and Georgia.

Y'all certainly have the talent to win the East... I'm just not sold on Butch's coaching ability to do so. For the last few years the Vols seem to either start off hot in a game and then go ice cold, or start off cold and get hot to late to catch up to the other team.
At some point you have to point at the coaching staff as the culprits for those kinds of collapses.

I don't think any of these are homerish, I just think this is a few reasons why we're getting some national media love

I blame the Florida and Oklahoma losses entirely on the coaching staff. Specifically Jancek, who basically played Quarters QB spy for half the game instead of bringing pressure. Shoop is not gonna be a pussy like Jancek.
I blame the offensive performance against Arkansas entirely on Butch Jones. Hurd was having a great game but only gets 3 touches on the 2nd half? WHAT THE frick?
So yes, Jones has to prove he can finish games before I'm ready to trust him.
